Very nice site.
My own story is perhaps too long to tell, but suffice it to say that I am a recovering "born againer" who came into the faith through belief in Christian love and left because of Christian hate and judgement. At this point, I have no place in my life for any organized religion. It is nice to see, however, some folks who are willing to admit the damage done through belief that there is only one way.

I agree Brother, to me religion's are just large cults used to guide and manipulate people like cattle to a slaughter!
I've read the bible a couple of times and it would hurt my head, so I started writing in it as I read ........... any who...
Deuteronomy 2:34: ‘We took all his cities at that time, and we utterly destroyed the men, women, and little ones of every city; we left none remaining.’
Leviticus 31:17: The Hebrews were instructed to kill every man, woman, and child, except for the virgin girls. Those they were allowed to keep to rape whenever they pleased. In the Bible god used the phrase, ‘you may keep them as wives’ but they were taken against their will after their parents were slaughtered. If that’s what god intended marriage to be I want no part of it.
Additionally, these verses also illustrate great hypocrisy on the part of god and his children.
What happened to the Commandment “Thou shall not kill.” Does that only apply to those that share your religious faith?
In looking at god’s instructions to the Hebrews in Biblical times, it seems that not a single Commandment was intended to apply to anyone other than the Hebrews. They were instructed to steal from the Egyptians when fleeing Egypt after the Passover. They were instructed to slaughter and completely destroy all evidence of the neighboring nations and their religions. Is god so insecure that he has to kill everyone who doesn’t believe in him? I just don’t get it. How can anyone claim that this is the only true god?
I can go on and on.... won't even touch one again!

Wow. I am all but out of excuses myself. I am hurt and bewildered. When at what point does an abused woman realize she has to face that the years invested aren't a reason to stay and there is nothing left for her but more of the same. She has to leave. If you understand P.M. me I'd love to talk. I need to talk.

Thanks for posting that Forrest. I am going to make all of my Christian friends read it. We all need a reminder now and then.;)

That is awesome. I was raised southern baptist and fell into the whole thing and even got saved and baptised. The thing that kind of drew me away from it was how they would try and push their religion on people and caused me to explore other religions. Mainly out of personal curiosity at first, My dad gave me my first 3 books; 1 on wicca, 1 on shamanism, and 1 on druidism. Before that I would research them at the library when I could get there and found it odd how christianity and it's subsequent religious off shoots only had one god while many others had many. I assumed this to be just their version of translation, perhaps "god" was like Odin or Zeus, the father god and the angels represented the lesser gods.. but that didn't seem to be the case either. Long story short I no longer prescribe to any one religion but follow my own path comprised of many aspects of many religions. It works for me and in the words of Trent Reznor "Your god is dead and no one cares, if there is a hell I'll see you there."
