Jesus was a radical in his day. He was trying to steer the jews to enlightenment, to a new direction in their faith. About everything he had to say was illegal. He spoke in parables or metaphors so only the ones who were meant to receive his teachings would, the others would just think that it was babble. I don't hold it against anyone who doesn't understand. I just expect tolerance, patience and civility as I try to practice the same.

He was the wizard
Of a thousand kings
And I chanced to meet him
One night wandering
He told me tales
And he drank my wine
Me and my magic man
Kinda feeling fine
He had a cloak of gold
And eyes of fire
And as he spoke
I felt a deep desire
To free the world
Of its fear and pain
And help the people
To feel free again
Why dont we listen to
The voices in our hearts
cause then I know wed find
Were not so far apart
Everybodys got to be happy
Everyone should sing
For we know the joy of life
The peace that love can bring
So spoke the wizard
In his mountain home
The vision of his wisdom
Means well never be alone
And I will dream of my magic night
And a million silver stars
That guide me with their light

Forrest it would be really nice if your reply to an argument actually had something to do with the argument. You seem like you might be a cool guy if you ever spoke in your own voice. Best I can tell you've been around since the beginning, you know the people here. What are you afraid of?

Don't be an armchair quarterback when it comes to things of the spirit. Find out all you can for yourself. Educate yourselves on all aspects of all faiths that you might come in contact with. That way, whether you find truth or not, you are still better equipped to understand the people that do subscribe to these views. And then you won't miss out on the opportunity to relate to someone on a really personnel level. People love to share things about themselves and it really puts a damper on things when they mention their faith and you roll your eyes or perhaps make some other insensitive gesture. Instead you could smile and say, "Yeah man I've read about that.....";)

An armchair quarter back? Ive been thinking and thinking and all I can come up with is when you hit it, its pointless or really hard, or you go flying over it. Hmmm.
I dig your words, always.

The "arm chair quarterback" doesn't play football. He just criticizes the way that others play. I think alot of folks have opinions about things without ever really taking the time to find out for themselves. It is easier to perpetuate hate speak and ignorant rhetoric, then to reach out and try to understand others as people too.

I got it. All I could picture was someone tackeling an arm chair and its just wasnt cutting it. :p
Im big on understanding all sides of situations, its gotten me far in life. Its also gotten me alot of grief from the people who dont see things the way I do. Its easier for me to put myself in someone elses shoes then to walk in my own. Even though mine fit perfect;)

When they turn the pages of history
When these days have passed long ago
Will they read of us with sadness
For the seeds that we let grow?
We turned our gaze
From the castles in the distance
Eyes cast down
On the path of least resistance
Cities full of hatred, fear and lies
Withered hearts and cruel, tormented eyes
Scheming demons dressed in kingly guise
Beating down the multitude and
Scoffing at the wise
The hypocrites are slandering
The sacred halls of Truth
Ancient nobles showering
Their bitterness on youth
Can't we find the minds that made us strong?
Can't we learn to feel what's right
And what's wrong?
What's wrong?
Cities full of hatred, fear and lies
Withered hearts and cruel, tormented eyes
Scheming demons dressed in kingly guise
Beating down the multitude and
Scoffing at the wise
Can't we raise our eyes and make a start?
Can't we find the minds to lead us
Closer to the Heart?

Well I always knew that Pluto was more than just Mickey's dog. And men may very well come from mars but Venician blinds can still be purchased locally so why waste the time and money exploring space? Toaster treats thats why, see what I mean Forest? Oh, here's a link:

The link won't work! :bawl:
Turn round tailor, coins and
Assaulting all the mornings of the crosses
Interest shown, never know
Presenting one another to the cord, their fruitless worth;
All left dying, rediscovered cords are broken,
Of the door that turned round, locked inside
To close the cover, the mother earth.
All the interest shown, they won’t
To turn one another, to the sign hide, hold, they won’t
At the time tell you, watching the world,
To float your climb. watching all of the world,
Watching us go by.

I've just read this whole thread (although I didn't click the links) and found it...odd. When I read the title to the thread, I was intriqued. Now, I'm more confused. LOL
ANYWAY, I personally do not find the Bible "repulsive". Do I believe it was written by men? Yes. Do I believe some of those men screw things up royally? Uh huh. Do I believe that alot of people take the symbolism and metaphor too literally? Oh hell yeah.
But I studied the Bible for a long time, and found many many MANY of it's passages very healing. Very enlightening. And very meaningful. I guess I just think that wisdom can be found just about anywhere, and that it's the height of Ego to throw the baby out with the bath water...so to speak.
Of course, I can also hold a rock in my hand, and have an enlightening, meaningful, healing moment. LOL

Moses sat up on that Mountain, high as a Hebrew, until he saw God. Jesus went out into the Desert alone to confront Satan. Do you think these guys were into Ceremony?

I think it is quite possible, in the bible there is something like a 30 year gap in his life.. I think he traveled the world and learned many ways and practices and possibly used some of the for the miracles in the bible. Because these healing and spiritual arts were not known in the areas where his accomplishments were recorded they were nothing less than miracles. Just think of what they would say about cell phones and mp3 players. lmao
