I was just wondering if anyone knew of any teas or vitamins that are good for your skin and hair, besides the standard solution of 'vitamin E' that i've been told my whole life? I dont have problem skin or hair, they just tend to get a bit dry easily. If anyone knows of anything or combinations of anything that will help or just simply be good for them, let me know. new ideas always appreciated!!

I have dry skin too, eczema actually. Evening Primrose and Flax Seed Oil are supposed to be helpful. I can never remember to take my capsules though, so I can't really vouch for it personally. You take the capsules three times daily.

there are quite a few things you could do for yourself here!
for your skin, you can make your own lotion with healing herbs for dry skin. You can make your own shampoo for dry hair. Its really quite simple, and this way you know exactly what's going into it too (as opposed to the sketchiness they put in most manufactured shampoos these days). And ofcourse, there's always essential oils... you can rub them right into your skin, but a better way to go about it is to put some essential oil into a vegetable oil (almond is best for skin, but you can use anything really. sunflower oil is good for vit E. Getting Organic oil is important if you're putting it right on your skin)
Some Essential oils for treating dry skin are Clary Sage, Lemon, Myrrh, Patchouli, Rosemary, Tea tree and ylang ylang.
here's some recipes for you :huepfen02
CREAM
Waters..
2/3 cup distilled water (or rose water)
1/3 cup aloe vera gel
1 or 2 drops of essential oil of choice
Oils..
3/4 cup apricot, almond, or grapeseed oil
1/3 cup coconut oil or cocoa butter
1/4 tsp lanolin
1/2 to 1 ounce of beeswax
1. Combine the waters in a glass measuring cup. Set Aside.
2. In a double boiler over low heat, combine the oils. Heat them just enough to melt.
3. Pour the oils into a blender and let them cool to room temp. The mixture should become thick, creamy, semisolid, and cream colored. This cooling process can be hastened in the fridge, but keep an eye on it so it doesn't become to hard.
4. When the mixture has cooled, turn on the blender as its highest speed. In a slow, thin drizzle, pour the water mixture into the center vortex of the whirling oil mixture.
5. When most of the water mixture has been added to the oils, listen to the blender and watch the cream. Whne the blender coughs and chokes and the cream looks thick and white, like buttercream frosting, turn off the blender. You can slowly add more water, beating it in by hand with a spoon, but don't overbeat! The cream will thicken as it sets.
6. Pour it into crema jars, glass will keep it better for longer. Store in a cool location.
SHAMPOO
8 ounces distilled water
1 ounce of herbs (for dryness, try 1 part calendula flower, 1 part marshmallow root, 1 part nettle leaf)
3 ounces of liquid castille soap
1/4 tsp jojoba oil
25 drops of pure essential oil (choose from the ones i listed before)
1. Bring the water to a boil. Add the herbs, cover and let simmer over low heat for 15-20 mins. Strain and cool.
2. Slowly add the castille soap to the tea, then mix in the jojoba oil and essential oil. Store in a plastic container with a flip top. Shake before using.
Well, I hope this helps you!!
Let me know if you try any of these and you notice that they made a difference :animal-sm

also...drink lots of water...that keeps your skin really hydrated. Eight cups isn't enough...I'd shoot for like twelve.
