I just bought a pair of Fei Yue shoes, it's the same shoe that the Shaolin Temple's "demonstration team" wears, as well as many other Chinese martial artists. Wore them most of the day, and I really like them. They're along the lines of the low-cut Chuck Taylor Converse, but with much thinner soles and about half the weight. They also have very little heel, which is the feature I've been trying to find for a long time. I have chronic low back trouble, and anything with a heel (including those with an internal lift like a running shoe) causes problems.
You can find them many places on the web through a Google search, and they run about $15 a pair and ten bucks shipping. Or $25 with free shipping. ;)
The packaging is pretty neat, it was a double wrap of thin paper and that's it - about as eco-friendly as it gets these days. Of course, Amazon put them in a humongous box with lots of blow-up plastic bag packing and a handful of marketing slicks ...
