This is my favorite time of year. Everything being harvested or has already been and enjoyed to the fullest. Leaves are changing, birds are migrating, monarchs are flying all around ready for their migration. Fields become bare, freezers and pantries are full. A golden glow takes over. Yellow and purple flowers are everywhere, the rose of sharons are in full bloom. The scent in the air is warm yet invigorating, ahhhh fall.

Before this change of season I always feel stressed, rushed, overwhelmed, but as soon as the fall equinox starts I feel calm, achieved, blessed. Every year I do this, its kinda strange imo.

This weekend a bunch of us are going to have a harvest dinner to honor the changing of the season. Anyone doing anything?

I really do love this time of the year, brings on such a sense of pride and honor to good ol mother earth.
So thanks Mama I truely enjoy your bounty:hb:

We're planning a harvest dinner around the end of the month. I'm really looking forward to it. It will be our last BBQ of the year.

I feel a sense of peace this time of year as well. I don't know why since I actually get busier between home-schooling my son and getting things made for Christmas and this year I am planning on starting school winter quarter. I also tend to do more of a fall cleaning than a spring cleaning. Still, the chill in the air just makes me feel fresh and awake after the oppressive summer heat.:D

At the west we arrive at a pivotal point in the yearly cycle wich is considered both an ending and a begining. The Celts regarded it as a time when one year ended and another began. The festival of Samhain on October 31. It was looked upon as the transitioning from the "seen" world, into the "unseen" world. Powerful Forces of Nature are at work now. Associated with ghosts and ghouls it degenerated into Hallowe'en, wich obscures the original importance - The Festival of Rememberance. Seen - Unseen.

This time of the year, I have to walk outside with my arms up in the morning. There are SPIDERS everywhere..really big fat orange ones. I'm not scared of them, but I do hate getting one in the face. :p

The Village had to cross the River of Time. An old man sat at the waters edge and wasn't able to cross. Lots of women offered to help him but he refused. Then a Contrary asked and he jumped on her back. She got him across, but he would not get off her back. I am named Tradition and I must stay with you. Poor Libra carried him around for years. A burden, that could not be shaken. Then one day they arrived at the Center of the Camp and suddenly old man Tradition slid down. He was now a Handsome Young Stud. Everyone loved him now. Libra became their Queen. Hang in there Baby!

I LOVE this time of year too! I know how much work it takes to get food worked up preserved. I'm still working on tomatoes and I have to get peppers, apple and grape jellies done yet. It's a lot harder with a three month old, but as long as I can just keep my head above water it'll all get done. I've resorted to a lot more freezing this year than in the past simply for time. The nights have been getting a lot cooler here and the first of the leaves are starting to change. I've got to get the pumpkins out soon too!! Man...summer sure did fly, but I'm ready for fall.

Isn't it funny how much faster time goes when you have little ones around?:D
