I wonder if the media will ever do a cover story of the effects on our society that is produced by the right wing media. The hate is palpable with these people. But it doesn't stop in Bethlehem, PA.
As Glenn brilliantly documents, it's happened at many Republican events (http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/10/09/balz/index.html).Just look at the videotapes of the angry, hateful hordes attending these rallies — screaming that Obama is a socialist (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qT8OFncxEkc&eurl=); that he’s both a Muslim and a terrorist as proven by his “bloodline” and his name (http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/10/hes-got-the-blo.html); that his supporters are “commie faggots” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itEucdhf4Us); that he’s guilty of treason (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/07/obama-hatred-on-display-a_n_132572.html); underscored by increasing racial invective (http://www.americablog.com/2008/10/sit-down-boy.html) and even punctuated in one case by a call from an audience member for someone to be killed (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/10/06/AR2008100602935.html). These aren’t just isolated individuals; these sentiments are common at these rallies and becoming increasingly virulent and enraged — at the rallies and (http://www.latimes.com/media/acrobat/2008-10/42750415.pdf) otherwise (http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081009/BLOGS09/81009018): A billboard in West Plains, Mo., showing a caricature of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama wearing a turban has caused quite a stir in town.
The sign, located south of West Plains on U.S. 63 across from the Dairy Queen, says: “Barack ‘Hussein’ Obama equals more abortions, same sex marriages, taxes, gun regulations.”
And worst of all, all of this rage and this innuendo is taking place in the most volatile climate of all — one of severe economic distress and anxiety (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/10/business/10markets.html?hp) — and these mobs are increasingly becoming convinced, because the Right (http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/09/26/national_review/) and the McCain/Palin campaign (http://hotair.com/archives/2008/10/06/mccain-blasts-obama-democrats-for-fannie-mae-meltdown/) is leading them to believe it (http://digbysblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/illegal-land-barons-by-digby-i-wrote.html), that this economic crisis is the fault of the black candidate — Obama — for making banks give mortgages to racial minorities.
And McCain's hands are soiled as well after his appearance with Sean Hannity where he joins in the Ayers mob (http://www.crooksandliars.com/john-amato/john-mccain-lowers-himself-ayers-bathwa). Since this reflects so badly for Republicans, look for plants at Obama events very soon because you never hear this kind of low brow commentary coming from them. And if a few people acted in kind to McCain, you know it would be looped 24/7 on cable.

Makes me sick. What Im afraid of is when Obama wins. Some ignorant
@$$&@%# will grab his gun and follow through with all these hateful remarks. So scary! Im really afraid of that. People cant handle change or something different that doesnt look like them. Pure ignorance.
I live in PA and have been calling people to vote for Obama and some of the responses I get are like whoa, are you serious? You really feel that way? They dont know anyother way. Really sad. Granted alot of the responses ive gotten have been shockingly great, but the bad ones always seem to stick out, which sucks.

There no doubt are such forums, but they are also filled with people ranting in ignorance to a group whowill not challenge their attitude or examine their position. I prefer to be challnged and informed by opposing points of view.
I've been lurking around this site for a while and really enjoy the views posted here. Looking forward to being further educated by all of you.:heff2:

Hanity has advocated the war in Iraq since it's conception. He and his conservative talk show comrades tout that supporting these efforts makes one a "Great American". Neither he nor his bun bun Rush Limbaugh have ever personally served in the military. If war is such a cool patriotic thing I wonder why neither of them went to get themselves a heaping helpin'? Anyways that's why I called the Republican cheerleader Hanity, a pussy. Anyone who has ever heard or seen him needs absolutely no reason to want to kick his ass. In fact assault with intent on Mr. Hanity has been lowered to a misdemeanor in most states.

I could show you just as many links that depict homosexualls storming a church, Obama supporters wearing t-shirts with slogans of "Palin is a bitch" and "Vote for the Bro not the Ho", and various violent protests during the Republican convention. The difference would be that you would not be outraged or even embarresed by these.
Most thinking people are embarrased by reactivist radicals who hold similar views.

Please do this, I would really like to see them, show them to me. In all fairness to objectivity those examples of yours need to be posted here as well so that folks can see, compare and make up their own minds as to which group is the most evil.
So don't just "I could ..." but rather do so.

Sadly it's easy to find hatred on both sides because it is far easier to just hate those who disagree with you than it is to have a calm, logical discussion and understand that just because we don't agree doesn't make one side evil.

The darkness is not sleeping- it is very organized.
We need to COOPERATE with each other - not compete - but unite!
Give up egos - accept each others traditions...
We are warriors - our weapons are love, heart and consciousness.
This is the MOST important and opportune time to light candles;
to do ceremony and ritual; to pray!
Pray especially for the religious fundamentalists who, among other very dark things, such as possibly acquiring atomic weapons, are attempting to destroy the Elders in Guatemala. These Elders are some of the indigenous people that have kept PRAYER FIRES BURNING ENDLESSLY FOR 1000 YEARS.
We can create a fusion through ceremony and lighting of candles.
THIS is the moment of prophecy,
We are the dream of the Great Father -
See that and do not despair.
We have come here just to live...NOT to live the illusions of consumerism...
Know that there are 3 types of people living right now:
the spiritual people, the asleep consumers, and the dark forces/demons...
It is wise and important to spend no unnecessary money -
the imbalance created by unconscious consumerism must end...
Remember: "The most beautiful of life is FREE! Such as the sunset!"
In the perspective of the living Maya Timekeepers of Guatemala, calendrically speaking, each element has a 5200 year cycle. We have been through fire, earth, air and water already. The next cycle (beginning Dec 21, 2012) will be ether.
Only christos people will survive to experience this age. A lot of humanity will disappear... Those who survive will by the Lovers of the Earth who know how to live simply and harmoniously.
The dark forces would rather destroy the planet than share the power...
The U.S.A. is very important in terms of balancing out the world's equation of dark and light.
The dark forces also use shamanic magic for business purposes, to create darkness. We need to stop the darkness not with confrontation, but with love.
Don't be passive, but be peaceful...
We are part of the people of the light. There are no leaders this time...
We are masters, elders, all of us. We need the unity of all voices!
Ceremonies are very powerful to destroy ignorance...
On Dec 21, 2012 it will not be like turning on a light switch,
it will be gradual... IT HAS ALREADY BEGUN!
Those that are receiving this transmission were Mayans in the past!
We can do our part as Lightworkers to love and accept each other,
and create a daily ritual to support this transformation of the Mother Earth
as we move steadily into the 5th World of Ether...

I guess I do. The few events I have attented people where more concerned with what Obama can and is going to do for us and not what McCain and Palin cant, I didnt hear any ill will towards them. And if I had more then likely would have spoke up and said, hey, thats not what we are here for!
The difference would be that you would not be outraged or even embarresed by these
How could you possible know we wouldnt be outraged or embarrased? Im embarrased for the people who acted that way recently and I dont even personally know them, no matter who you are for or against, were adults and should know better. So dont group me into an unconcerned catagory thats unfair.

Libra,
I stand duely chastised.:(
It is truely frustrating, however, when clearly inflamatory rhetoric (truth also can be presented as inflamatory rhetoric) is condemned in one context and seen as heroic in another.
Graehstone,
I have accepted your challenge but am hampered by the fact that the supposedly unbiased media don't see as news worthy the things I've described. I don't frequent the radical inflamatory sites and blogs that do so I am at a loss to respond. You win. :-)
