"Yes, We Can" is a good political slogan. It brings us needed hope, great optimism, and a vision of a better future. It isn't, however, a slogan that represents a determined, engaged citizenry. I think it should be "Yes, I Will".
I Will ... vote, and vote wisely, in this election.
I Will ... elect leaders that understand and represent ALL of America.
I Will ... actively hold those I help elect accountable in every measure, at every turn.
I Will ... stay vigilant, and exert every right and peaceful force within my power to keep that government honest and true to its promises.
We've had eight years of "Fuggit, I didn't vote for him". What we need now and in our future is a realization that this is OUR country, the government serves at OUR pleasure, and we can each be a force to make sure that is how things work in OUR country. No violence, no anger, just a peaceful, benevolent, but stern determination that our country won't be hijacked again.
Vote your conscience, but remember that it isn't over when you walk away from the voting booth.
