No cameras :(

I voted too. We have electronic machines and cards that slide into them, thenwhen I was done this scary dude stuck the card in what looked like a calculator, pulled it back out and that was it. Seems so strange.

Is anyone else feeling somewhat anxious? Besides the election, there are other state / props that I feel strongly about.

Prop 8, 2, and even D - trying to ban drinking on all beaches/parks. WTH.

I got to my polling place 5 minutes after it opened and was thrilled to see a line! The line moved quickly, but it was great to see so many people interested this time around. We had initiatives to repeal the income tax, to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana, and to end dog racing. I am anxious for results and am keeping my fingers crossed.

Honestly the baby bit is uncalled for.

Have you ever been raped? Have you ever wondered if you were carrying the baby of a man who forced you to have sex with him, who took away something you can never get back. Oh, no you havent because your a man, so shut up.

And ya now all the black people are going to revolt and over turn the government and make us all be slaves too..right?

Im sick of being quiet, sick of being at the hand of people who think everything is straight and narrow. I hear this crap all day long from my brothers and Im really so sick of it. And the last place I want to hear it is here.

And Im not sorry for ranting, I almost said sorry, but it would have been a lie. Im totally not sorry.

Ok I'm all for the whole exception for rape, incest and the life of the mother deal but this guy voted against the ban on partial birth abortion. Do you know what that entails?! It's barbaric! If a raped women can't figure out in the first trimester that she doesn't want to keep the baby, killing it is not going to help her heal. (No offense intended Libra, and you shouldn't stay silent but I have really strong feelings on the issue :))

Anyway, even though I didn't vote for him, it is exciting that our country has broken the racial glass ceiling. I had butterflies last night!:D

Please guys, tell me what Obama getting elected has to do with abortion? There was a republican president in office when the Roe v Wade was decided, four republican presidents after that, two of them two term. It had no effect on this issue. Why say these things? We have been at war, people are dying. The American economy is in the crapper and we are broke. Our planet's eco systems are being destroyed and everyone on the face of the earth hates our guts. Yet this is your issue? Sorry for the pea under your mattress princess. If one does not want abortion, don't get one. Plain and simple. However if someone is bound and determined to get one shouldn't there be a safe medical procedure available? Do you people think that only democrat women have had this procedure? Don't you think that with a moral issue you need to change hearts rather than laws? And what if, God forbid, your daughter died in some back alley procedure because a safe procedure wasn't available. How could you live with yourself knowing that your own child died needlessly? Would it ever occur to you that she died of self righteous parents? Please I wanna know.

BTW questions are in general and not directed at any one right-wing fanatic or his daughter. [pregnant smiley]

I agree partial abortions are barbaric. So is being raped. And I dont think killing a baby either way helps a woman heal any faster there is no real healing. I have friends who have delt with this directly and its a horrible thing to watch some one experience I cant imagine having to make that choice. But it is my choice to make.

Froggy and Libra,
Love ya, I really do. "right-wing fanatic or his daughter." LOL

First, the rape-incest argument is bogus, they account for such a miniscule percentage of abortions and any rational (I know, rationality is hard to come by with religeous fanatics but I try) individual has few objections in such cases. The vast majority of abortions are for sex selection (females lose) or because individuals devoid of morals want to hump like animals without consequenses.

Abortion exists as it does by supreme court edict. The next president will reconstitute the makeup of the court. Also, legislatively, a strongly abortionist congress and whitehouse will probably take the issue away from the states and force the abandonment of ANY restrictions, like parental notification for minors or informed consent.

If I offended easily would I be here? :D

Please don't think that the historic significance of the first black president is lost on me, that I celebrate with you. The fact that his governmental philosophy is diametricaly opposed to the historic philosophy of this nation makes me very sad.:( Not talking religeon here, talking basic role of government.

Hey how many times have you been married? Hump like rabbits, morals, hitting close to home? I dunno thought I read it were several times, could be wrong though. Morals are individual imo.

And do you think woman go out, say hey what a nice day im gonna have me some sex, get knocked up and kill a baby?
I dont think abortion should be taken lightly and I dont think woman should go around having them just because they dont feel like having children. This is not a cut or dry issue and there are many many variables.
Sex education is important, and should be taught in schools are you for that or against it?

I believe Obama said he would of voted for the ban of partial (late term) abortion should there be language included that protected the health of the mother.

You can verify at factcheck.org

I love you guys!:D

I feel the need to clarify on the abortion issue and then I promise to drop it.:)
As far as those of us who are against abortion are concerned, it's not just a choice, it's the murder of our most defenseless and precious population. I know that sounds inflammatory and I really don't mean to offend, I too have very close friends (all democrats by the way :) ) who have had abortions, but that is really how we see it. So it's not just a mater of "If you don't want one don't get one" to me. I mean that's kind of like saying if you don't want to own slaves then don't.

Also, on the parental notification thing, those who I know who had abortions all had them in order to avoid "disappointing" their parents and then of course wound up eventually having to tell their parents about the abortion which they all found more disappointing than the pregnancy itself. So thank you Froggy for voting on that, although it doesn't look like it's passing.

Finally, (and then I promise I'll shut up) on the issue of back ally abortions, consider the stigma that went along with being pregnant out of wedlock in those days. In the older generation there was even a stigma that went along with being adopted. Those stigmas no longer exists and there are more choices for more effective birth control than was available then, so I find it very hard to believe that there would a large number of women choosing to go that route.

Ok, Im done now. I too am sorry for ranting though not for the content. I really appreciate the opportunity to exchange ideas with you guys and I even though we disagree. I value you viewpoints and I hope not to offend any of you.

Hey how many times have you been married?...

I have been divorced once and it wasn't my idea. I don't believe in divorce but that is much too long of a subject for here. I'm writing a book on it, don't hold your breath though, it's been going for years.

And do you think woman go out, say hey what a nice day im gonna have me some sex, get knocked up and kill a baby?

Unfortunately I've had conversations with gals who think abortion is great birthcontrol. Maybe they were just trying to shock.

I dont think abortion should be taken lightly and I dont think woman should go around having them just because they dont feel like having children. This is not a cut or dry issue and there are many many variables.

Well said.

For it if it is made clear that the only 100% effective prevention of STDs and pregnancy is abstinence. Note I did not preclude encouraging the use of condoms. A better understanding of sexuality upholds the statistic that married Christians have the best sex! I speak form experiance byt don't tell the Nymph!:D

What I find most amusing is how past stigmas were mentioned to no longer exist and for the most part is true, but new stigmas arise every day.

There are still places where if a man has long hair then they are looked down on and not given the same opportunities. Dye your hair an unusual color and it's even worse unless you work in a certain industry or a place like Hot Topic. Get facial piercings and easily visible tattoos and your life gets even harder on the job front. Why? Can the guy with a lip ring and blue hair not cook or operate a machine or computer no do so as well as the person with the short cut hair and old navy and abercrombie and finch clothes?

Dunno where I'm really going with this considering I haven't been in the job market for awhile during my college stint but I will be looking into getting a job to pay down my loans and start saving up some starting capital for the marketing company that I want to get started. Anyone knows and investors that aren't looking for a cut of the business keep me in mind. lol
