Ok so Ive found 2 ticks on my dog and 1 tick on my cat. The cat could have more she is sooo furry and has long hair she wont let me ck her for long. So EEEWWW and AHHHHHHHH. Im freakin out.Im itching just thinking of it.

What happens once the ticks are full? Do they fall off there host and lay eggs? Will they then decide they'd like a taste of me? Oh its soooo gross. Can they live in my house and lay eggs?
Ive never had a run in with this many ticks before and I tore my house apart cleaning and vacuming, washing every blanket etc... I know I only found 3 but it feels like a million to me. :bawl:

Any tick experts in the house?????? Before I end up moving, lol

I've read many ways how to removed them (tweezers), we treat our dogs and cat with biospot. I remember reading about putting powdered garlic in their food and you can kill the ticks by smothering them in cooling oil or dabs of vaseline.

They just keep feeding. My wife says back 'em out corkscrewing them counter clockwise or put something hot like a flame heated needle to there back side. They will back themselves out to yell ouch! They are of big concern here, people claim that they carry Lyme decease.

Oh Barf..I feel for you. I removed a huge fat one from my cat last year, and it still gives me the creeps.

Here ya go: (drawings on how to lol)
http://www.fda.gov/Fdac/features/2001/fleaside.html

I used tweezers, SUPER close to where the skin is, as it's very important not to break the body off from head (Head will keep 'biting' into pet). Gross.

Then clean it out the best you can w/ antiseptic.

GL!!

The tics must have migrated, in Mo. tics are abundant in summer, not this year, they must have migrated. They have never taken anything over exccept the timber in summer. Tics suck!

I got them out already, oh how gross it was, is.

My big concern is what they do once there full. I wasnt sure if they fall off and look for a bigger blood bank... like me:bawl:

And ya they are carriers of lyme disease. Horrible lil bugs.

So freakin creepy.

LOL don't worry - they aren't going to come after you. They aren't in your house.

Although you could pick one up outside just like your pets did.

It's easier for us to detect a tick though since we aren't covered in fur :)
It will be ok. :D

There is alot of Manzanita growing wild here. My wife stays clear of it always, she calls it "tick bush". There are deer walking through the neighborhoods as common as cats, that's where she says they come from as well. Like meg says don't worry. I recommend staying out of the woods unprotected. Protection? Wrap your forearms and ankles in tin foil.......Next we'll talk about how to feild dress and prepare Snipe. Snipe hunting season is just around the corner.:D;)

If it was a bedbug you found, then I would say go forward with the burning the house idea lol - From what I've read online, those are impossible to kill and will drive you insane.

Ticks..no problem. :) They just look freaky.

What if we lived in a country with vampire bats? ...something to think about today. :D

(Adam is Googling vampire bats ... 1... 2....3....now)

Adam probably knows everything there is to know about Vampire bats...... If they were in this country it only makes sense they'd be in a state with -sylvania....;)
