I found Dr. Esteban's Purifying Formula when I was living in Seattle at a store in Pike's Market - Tenzing Momo's. I take one dose, two capsules, every two weeks, have for years; take it every day when I feel like I'm getting a cold. They also sell herbs, etc. You can order it direct from them. They have a website - tenzingmomo.com. Really cool store. Had them mix some herbs for me when I was told I had Graves disease, some of their employees were going to Bastyr University - worked for me when the endoconologist wanted to cut out part of my thyriod, or nuke it.

Hot Elderflower tea or Elder flowers mixed with Yarrow are both tried and trusted country remedies for relieving the symptoms of colds.
Put a teaspoonful in a cup, cover with boiling water and let steep for 20 mins. Strain, add honey and drink as hot as you can stand. Use the strainings as a compress to relieve your sore eyes.

Hot lemon and Honey last thing at night is another good remedy, better still if you grate in some fresh Ginger or Cinnamon.
Almost all the warming aromatic spices are excellent for a cold, since they stimulate the circulation and encourage sweating.

Another excellent way to ward off a cold is a Mustard footbath to be taken just before bedtime.
Put a teaspoonful of ordinary yellow Mustard powder (Coleman's is a famous brand in the UK) into a bucket and add water to come halfway up the legs, as hot as you can bare. Keep your feet in it for at least ten mins topping it up with piping hot water from time to time - PLEASE TAKE CARE NOT TO SCALD YOURSELF!!!
Mop your feet dry, put on thick socks and get straight into bed.

It's worth taking a course of Echinacea to help strengthen your immune system and to fight the germs causing your cold. Take one tablet three times a day for a week.

If you have a stuffy blocked up nose then it's definitely worth buying some Olbas Oil. Sprinkle a few drops onto a clean handkerchief and inhale throughout the day, you might also want to sprinkle some onto your pillow for night time.

Drink plenty of fluids especially water.
