LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Firefighters will need at least until midweek to get control of wildfires that have destroyed more than 900 homes and other structures in Southern California (http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/11/17/california.fires/index.html), a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman says.
We really need to pray for these folk, send some good vibes their way! :group_hug

Yeah, it's horrible. Christopher Lloyd lost all of the things he had collected over the years and all.

You're kidding right?
And NO I haven't the slightest clue as to what you might mean.
All I am getting here from you is "Neener, neener, neener, it's all your fault for being stupid and living in California" and hence you don't care if I die in the fires.
Or am I wrong here? The folks in ... say, Afghanistan or the Congo, Iraq, who are dying in petty wars and ethnic cleansing, well it's their fault for living there too huh?
I am going to chalk this one up on youth and the inability to properly express ones feeling via the written word on your part and call it a day.
Many blessings on you and yours, even if you do live in Georgia. :hippie:

ok maybe i didnt post that right. heres what im getting at. If you knew you were moving to a flood zone wouldnt you get flood protection? would you think ahead to the future flood that IS going to happen?
Same with the fire. If you knew you were moving into a place that was been ravaged by fire almost every year wouldnt you think twice? The fires have clearly been getting worse every year. The only thing I think that could be worse than having everything you owne lost in a fire is someone getting hurt or even worse killed. but their is some liability on the STATE for allowing homes to be re-built in a very fire prone region. the same way you are not allowed to build in a known flood zone, the STATE should protect people from this by not allowing builders to re-build in a "fire zone".

Now i get that people want to rebiuld their life in the same areas and try to return to normal but the fact is. its all going to burn again. its natures way of saying "HEY! that is mine your just borrowing it." We cant control what nature is going to do. Again i feel for those people, Ive been homeless before. i lived in a tent with my mother for a good 4 to 5 monthes.

I have nothing against callifornia. hell almost ALL my familly is in California. And i dont think were I live has anything to do with it. I guess what im trying to say is that the state and or government should have stepped in before and said "this area is prone to wild fire no building allowed" if only to save lives.

I maybe in the wrong here but i just feel like someone should have realized it was likley to burn AGAIN and done something about it.

I also get that this is the worse its ever been and that people are probly still in shock from all this. I cant help but feel that this patern is likely to keep happening. every year i watch the news and the california fire rep or who ever says "this is the worse ive ever seen".

i do hope and pray that they are able to get it to stop spreading and that no one else has to suffer. but i also hope the state steps in and does something to prevent this much desruction from happening again next year.

I do know what you mean but I still think it's sad. I have always felt that way about anyone who chooses to live in Florida.:D I still pray for them every time there is a hurricane though. I think we have to understand that there are a lot of things that go into peoples choices, whatever they may be, and we just can't understand all of them but I still feel for their loss.

We had fires this past summer, Northern Ca. lightning complex fires, 75 homes were lost.:( Dude, I was born here. I came accepting no risk, this state is my home, it is where I am from. Savon, it isn't very compassionate to rationalize or marginalize human tragedy. You empathize with the victims because you can feel their loss.:o

I am not trying to down play the terrible effect of the fire. all im saying is that the state should step in and set guidlines for were you can build. like as in not in a valley that has burned year after year. Its terrible such a beautiful state and people are being ravaged by fire. I love california and i love californians.

I think ill just leave this be. im sorry that this is happening but it does seem like the state should have forseen this. I know i did.

I think the risks have been magnified due to climate change and the drought we are in. Trust me, when its dry and windy here, we are all very uneasy. And the sound of a helicopter is always alarming.
