Very interesting. I have always found it interesting that those who are half black inevitably identify themselves as black. Our new president was abandoned by his black father 3 years after he was born, not to see him again in his formative years near the end of which he saw him only once. Visits to his black relatives apear to have been delayed untill he was a young adult. This woud indicate that he was raised in a white home in white culture in a predominately very blended state yet he cose to bind himself to a radical (I use that term discriptively not purgoritively) black culture. Please understand, I am not trying to speak negatively about the president-elect. This is something I have observed in other instances too. Apartheit in South Africa declared that anyone with as little as 1/4 "colored blood" was classed as colored. Somehow, even with the election of our first "black" president, we are far from the colorblind dream of Martin Luther King.

Im sure if he said he was white people would say no your not, you "look" black. I doubt he claims it because he is not proud of his white heritage. Never has he denied being white, he doesnt look white though.
If he went around as the the new white president im sure that would be a huge slap in the face to every black person alive.
What does that matter anyway? Are you offended because he is the first black president? HE IS BLACK, he is also white. How would you describe yourself as the new first milato president?
Im mostly Italian, a wee but irish and scottish but when some one asks of my heritage I say Italian because thats what I mostly am and you can tell by looking at me that I am Italian. I think its the mustach that gives it away ;) lol

I disagree. 100%
He is the first black president, regardless of him being half white. I sware you just cant make everyone happy. They will pick apart everything no matter what, and for what? To make yourself feel better, or right?
"Oh.... well, this obama guy is white and how come he is the first black president. Ugh come on, get over yourself. Really.

Sorry, I made the point badly.:o It is a cultural question that has puzzeled me for ages. Why when one is raised in one culture predominately does it often happen that those who can choose often choose a culture that is antithetical to their up bringing? Just a question.:)

Perhaps the individual in question has seen some of the wrongs done by one part of their heratige to the other and in some way declares the other as a way of fighting back and/or rebelling against those injustices. This is actualy very psychologicy healthy because they do se both part of the spectrum and only chose to rebel in that way rather than becoming a radical against the half that they were raised as.

Good point Adam but I have to ask, doesn't 20 years with Jeramia Wright qualify as "becoming radical against the half they were raised as" ?
I agree Savon and actually I'm really starting to think there might be a hope he's not going to do the dammage I'm pretty sure he's going to do. Gotta look close but that's a move in the direction mostly supported by this site. :D

Small town living, churches gallore, closed minds, fear of the big bad black democrat. Seems like theres no getting through its there way or its evil. Im just so sick of it, sick of hearing it.

He is black David Duke! That's why. We know how openly accepting white folk are of people who are different from them. Like Libes said, what are yall' afraid of? You guys have filled the juke box with quarter's and we've heard your greatest hits for the past eight years. Time to hear a new tune.
