During his 1980 campaign, Ronald Reagan (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/reagan/peopleevents/pande06.html) promised to end the economic and hostage crises that had plagued Jimmy Carter's administration. Read up a little bit on the Republican Patriarch. It is very interesting and actually gives you insight as to what G.W., I'm sure, was trying to to with his economic recovery plans. Maybe President Bush thought it would work twice, the situations are similar. Maybe what we need is a technology boom like in the 90's (Microsoft) to stimulate the economy and put America back to work. Green technology for the world. :group_hug would be a great start!

The difference between Ronald Reagan (I type the name with reverance, genuflect, and wash my hands before I continue) and "Dubya" is that The exalted Ronaldus Magnus was a genuine social and fiscal conservative who was thoroughly convinced that conservative principles were the only hope for america to survive. His militarism grew from the belief that you couldn't face a bully who has a gun with a flyswater. Dubya is a wimp who thinks that liberal policies can be compormised with (7 years without a veto) and that soverin countries can be invaded just because Daddy didn't finish the job.
(Trite, light weight, sloppy reply but I'm short on time and in a down mood):(

Alot of people became very proud to be an American in those days as I recall. Genuinely proud, not like magnetic ribbon patriots of today.

Besides I believe that President Reagan was the only Republican president in the last forty years that wasn't a disgrace, failure or boob.

he should have received the Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony awards
eight years running for the portrayal of President of the United States.
he was an intelligent shill for the Republican Party with excellent writers.
i think the German term is 'schau shpieler'.

Since becoming president, George Bush has brought back into government service men who were discredited by criminal involvement in the Iran-Contra affair, lying to Congress, and other felonies while working for his father George Bush, Senior, and Ronald Reagan.

of course they are.
eight years plus and they couldn't find anything real to prosecute.
so, they blew (no pun intended) the Monica thing all out of proportion.

and much like Monica, they found the results hard to swallow.

Not a fan of Reagan. Never could understand how someone wthat narrated Death Valley Days got to be president. He took down the solar panels from the White House, gave us James Watt as Secretary of the Interior and made comments like - if you've seen one redwood you've seen them all.

Seeing the movie "who killed the electric car" I learned he also killed the caps on fossil fuel usage installed by Jimmy Carter.:( When he was President I was in my twenties.....young and unaware.

Hmmm... Sounds like he kept gas affordable and removed an inefficient eyesore from a building of great historical significance.
