Second priest says Obama-voters should confess

A Roman Catholic priest in Modesto, Calif., has told parishioners they should confess if they voted for Barack Obama because the president-elect supports abortion. The Rev. Joseph Illo says he sent a letter because Catholic teaching requires that people go to confession when they commit a mortal sin.

I want to know how voting for someone who supports and issue in it's self constitutes a mortal sin, it isn't like the parishioners that voted for Obama are them selves regularly practicing abortion. That is like putting someone in jail because they thought about killing someone that probably, in most cases, deserve it even tho they did not act on those thoughts. Hell, if you could get jailed for thinking about killing someone stupid then I would have around 800 back to back life sentences.
