I was looking for an herbal cough syrup recipe online and found this great herb site I thought some of you might enjoy too.:D

http://www.learningherbs.com/herbal_course.html

They have some free e-courses that are really fun and a game they developed about wildcrafting herbs. I am ordering one so we'll see if it's as much fun as it sounds. I have been looking for a way to keep the kids involved during the winter. :hippie:

I hear ya I am too. Im going to get it anyways. I always do something for Kris on valentines day, so I think this will be that something this year. Looks like so much fun, and he is interested in this plus I think its something I could bring to cub scouts and have the scouts play.

I ordered it last night and they have a bunch of "bonus" stuff they send you when you by it. They're all in PDF which I love because I don't have to wait for them to ship and I don't waste paper and space until I'm ready to use them.:D

I think you'll get yours before I do since they ship from MI. I hate buying things on line because I have no patience whatsoever. Mine left OH last Friday but it hasn't been updated since then so if you get it let me know what you think.:D

I want to say thank you for recomending that site, I just love it!
The dandelion book for kids is soooo cute, and the videos, recipes rock! Ive learned so much already, the garlic oil on the feet is so cool I am trying it on Kris tonight, he came home from his dads sunday with a cough, runny nose. Cant wait to see if it works! Im gonna try it too, I want to see if I will taste garlic in the morning.

Now I just need that game :D

And they seem like really nice people, a great family!

I'm so glad you enjoy it! It makes me feel like less of a dork.:D The kids have had nasty stuff a couple of times in the last few months and I really think the garlic oil works, plus its really yummy to cook with. ;D

I got the game today and the kids and I played it right away. Sammy lost interest after about 10 min. but she's two so that's pretty good. Mikey loved it though, and he was more focused on helping me and Sam than on winning which is wonderfully because he is usually really competitive (he gets it from his dad :D). I'm going to go write them a thank you note!

I finally got mine today, perfect timing! Kris and I played it all morning, it was sooo much fun!! He really got into it and cant wait to get out in the woods this summer to wildcraft, me too :) I got out my book on herbs so we could talk about why the herbs healed certain things better then others.

Im a dork too :D

LearningHerbs.com has a free game with membership deal going on now! I have been meaning to join but I have put it off. I figured I would do it now even though we already have the game. I will give the extra to someone for Christmas.:D

I know, I got that email too and thats what I thought too. So its 9.99 a month right? I really love the site and they make it easy to learn.

Go figure though, buy the game, then its free lol

WARNING: Do not join the site unless you have a lot of self-control or a lot of time to kill!

I have been on it since my last post and I LOVE it. I am definitely going to have to find a way to limit myself. I could spend all day on there. Or trying the things I'm learning, which I guess isn't all bad.:D

It is 9.99 a month but I figure I spend that on less worthwhile stuff every month so I will be more conscious of my spending and make it up. Plus, they seem like really neat people who have found a way to live off something they are passionate about and I love that I am supporting that.

The have a couple of courses that I'm tempted to jet through but I am going to take my time and let it sink in. The one I started today is the Village Herbalist. They have 20 lessons which were recorded weekly but they are all there so it's go at your own pace. If you join, it would be great to have someone to chat about them with.:D

There's also a Kamana Naturalist program which costs 135$ if you take the course through the place that offers it but you get the plant part free with membership, so I'm starting that too.

I kind of feel like a commercial for them.:D

Sweet! We've been dealing with the sickness and death of Matt's grandpa the last 2 weeks so I haven't gotten to do as much lately. I was planning on doing the village herbalist course first and catching up on one of the old herb-of-the-month studies. What are you planning?

LIBRA

I think that's the Kamana. I want to do that one too, especially since they live just over the mountains from me. Now that things are sprouting around here I'm getting inspired.:D

LOL! I know how you feel. I'm a stay at home mom so you would think I would have tons of time but lately random things just keep adding on and it seems like I turn around and the day is done. I just wish it would warm up so I could take the kids on nature walks and see what I can find growing around here.

LOL I'm on the same one. They are great. I also just listened to the old herbmentor radio interview with Aviva Romm. It's really good information on childrens health if you haven't listened to it already.:)

I havent, but I really enjoy the radio interviews. I listened to one from 7song in Ithaca, which is so close to me. And Kiva Rose which was good. I love that John is kinda a goober, ya know? His reactions make me laugh!

I know what you mean. Matt was half listening with me and the nervous chuckle he does was driving him nuts. It makes me laugh too. They're all so down to earth.

Well thank you for enjoying it as much as I do so I don't feel like a total dork. :D
I am eager to start gathering too. I am especially excited about collecting elder blossoms this spring. I know where lots of elder trees are and I have loved the berries as long as I can remember. It's so exciting to find out that plants I have always loved have so much healing potential!

LIBRA

Totally!

Ive got 4 elder trees out back and Ive never used the blossoms, didnt even know you could till learning herbs And Ive only ever made jam from the berries. I didnt even know the berries were edible untill last year, crazy things can be right under your nose and you dont even know it!

Pretty exciting!!
