COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The latest incidence of drunken flying isn't a problem for pilots but a bother to birds.

Dozens of birds got tipsy from eating fermented holly berries and crashed into a glass-sided office building in South Carolina.

Denise Wilkinson, who works in the building, said it was like watching something out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie. Some of the birds were too looped to take off and were falling off their branches.

Maintenance workers are trying to give their fine feathered friends a break. They're putting tape on the windows and covering the holly trees with nets to keep the birds away from the berries.

I saw a news report once that said an elk, or was it a stag, got drunk on fermented apples, or was it persimmons, and killed a kid. Whatever it was, it had big ole horns. Just stomped and horned the kid to death.


Eat a very very ripe banana, just before it goes completely black, and you'll get a nice little buzzzzzz. Make sure there's no splits in the peel. This may not work on regular drinkers, which I am not, but it sure works on me ;)

wow... reminds me of the movie 'birds', but at least these birds arent pecking people to death. i saw that movie when i was about 9 years old, and it scared the hell out of me, but so did disney's fantasia... i have no idea why either :confused:

the only drug thats evil is meth b/c after all hitler did it :p really, i dont like it at all but it pisses me off about the miseducation of the public on drugs & alcohol. my parents were watching fox news & they talked a little about meth & everything they said was wrong. i know some people who are chemists & its so scary! one time a lab exploded & the guys dick was burnt off :eek: right now hes making it again b/c hes addicted! isnt that scary? fox implied people were making it for profit & my parents totally believe that. i couldnt tell them about THAT story (theyre conservative catholics) so i tried to explain people make it b/c they NEED it, theyre addicted but my parents will never understand. to them, every drug & alcohol is evil. they're an authority on stuff they've never experienced :rolleyes:

sorry my last post (aka rant) was a little off topic, but back to the thread: my african history prof. has a theory about societies. hunting & gathering folks would harvest wild grains & store them. water would get in some grain & it would ferment, creating the first beer. they liked it so much they started growing grains to produce this beer. this lead to agricultural socities and then more advanced civilizations. alcohol helped civilization develop into what it is today! how can that be evil? ;) cant argue with that logic!

I used to say I hated methamphetamine. But lets get real here. I don't hate methamphetamine, I hate tweakers. Methamphetamine is just a chemical, and it even has its (apparent) uses. If I am asking people to grant that marijauna helps some people, then I can do the same and grant that (meth)amphetamines (ritalin, adderall, concerta, et al) indeed help some people. It's the abusers that I fucking hate.
Unfortunately, meth has high abuse potential because it is so addictive, so there are a lot of abusers.

Still, it's just a chemical. As is ethanol.

You said it! I've seen that addiction, it's powerful. Yeah, I'm talking about some people I know. They try, but they cannot function in life without it. One flunked his UA, (on parole) and went back to jail for 40 days (total). Got out, stayed clean for 9 whole days, but, my god, he was in a bad mood. Couldn't enjoy anything, stressed out over the smallest things. He's back on now. He's is the sweetest, kindest, funniest, most great guy to be around when he's on it. Without it he's morose, snappy, rude, and throws things around. It's very sad. He's offered it to me a few times. Ha! I will never touch that stuff.

did ya hear the one about the bear who drank a cooler full of some home brewed beer and tried one busch beer and left the rest in the cooler but drank alot of the home brew well they found the bear past out and it stayed past out for hour I cant really remeber where it was it happened a few moths ago!!
about the meth, the county I live in is the highest ranked county in pa for making meth the call it meth valley a kid I went to school with went crazy and shot and killed two cops and ran which was a huge deal nothing like that happens around here it was awfull!! so ya that drug is bad I really think it can make people nuts the ones who abuse it anyway.
