One more worth knowing is the Prussik knot:

http://www.animatedknots.com/prusik/index.php

If you ever have to climb a rope, a pair of Prussiks is the easy way to do it. I've gotten out of a couple of self-induced jams while rock climbing because I always kept a pair of Prussik loops on my belt (nothing like getting your hair or t-shirt caught in your rappelling device). You can even make a Prussik out of a nylon shoelace ... well, James Bond did, anyway. :D
