It seems like every package on the market today says Eco Friendly....it's still wrapped in plastic isn't it.....and mass produced....I wonder what portion of people buy into this.
I fear it's more than it should be, with convenience the master of the masses.

That bugs me too, but I try and look at the good side of things, and all this eco friendlyness is at least putting a bug in peoples ears, even if it is a consumerism bug, ya know?

I know, but if the Bug is Backwards, so will their idea of what it means to conserve....If they want to call it eco friendly, couldn't they at least package it in burlap, or waxed brown paperboard....it is an absolute contradiction, and there is very lil to nothing eco friendly about the plastic they wrap it in. They could put in any kind of natural fiber packaging: fabric, cardboard, wood, I don't care as long as it is not plastic......can anyone here tell me about how much plastic the average consumer consumes in a year.....wayyyy too much.

Agreed!! Totally no argument there, it is ridiculous!! People are coming around though and its a good feeling!!!
Its like when I tell people how horrible plastics are, and what they are linked too, they are in the dark about it, never heard of it..... it needs to be known!!! Not microwaving it etc... its scary shit!!! Spread the word!!

I need some more grocery sacks. So Badly. I am ahamed to admit I am not using mine, as they are filled with tools from my papa. It is driving me MAdd I tell you Madd....I see there is a nice four pack for forty, but at one for 8 shouldn't you get 6 for forty as a rule, one extra for buying a set. not 4 which is one less than buying a single at 8....uggg. I may start making them to add to my collection of handmade goodies, as canvas is cheaper than premades. Any tips out there? Screen printing doesn't cost that much. Stencils are fun.

Denim would be good too. You cound knit a mesh bag - they have free directions on Lion Brand's web site. I don't knit, but did crochet one for me and a few for friends / family. You could get some of the fabric printer sheets and print a favorite picture to iron on a bag . . . the possibilities are endless.

I sew pretty well, So I would consider it a waste of time to hand crochet a mesh bag. Maybe one, but I am feeding a family of four. So I need a minimum 5 bags. Denim is a nice idea, but it tears up the sewing machine. I don't really like to sew more than a hem in denim.

I could make mesh Produce sacks. Aha! I used to haves some of those.

I think I am at the point where I will I will be adding Canvas Sacks to lineup. Thus ensuring the people around me have simple access to reusables. :)
So you have answered my question for me, and I have answered it for myself as well.

Just remember, don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. If people are at least thinking about earth-friendly things, then it's just a matter of time until they understand them.
