I have a line of canteloupes in tubs, against a fence. One was a volunteer that popped up in a container before I planted the others. I figured the raccoons that get in the compost scattered some seeds around and I got lucky. So I took it to the garden and it's been growing well, way ahead of the ones I planted myself.

Hadn't been paying much attention to them I guess. Today I found baby cucumbers all over that canteloupe plant.
Can't bear to move it, it's doing too good. So, I guess they'll cross when the canteloupe flowers show up and I'll be growing Cantecukes. Or Cukeloupes. Cantecumbers?

As long as you don't use the seeds for next year they will be fine. I don't think cantaloupe and cukes cross anyway. Love your names. Funny.

I had to go look it up. You're right, they won't cross.

The cantaloupes aren't flowering. One site suggested too much nitrogen. I don't know. Maybe they're still to young.
