there are stars in her eyes
so sweet naive and innocent
she wouldnt hurt a fly
her heart is full of love
she gives everything and
asks for nothing in return
but they take and they take
and they take while she gives
and she gives and she gives
until she has nothing left
they move on looking for
another host to feed off of
she is full of pain
hurt feelings self guilt
the betrayl broke her heart
that innocence is gone
her eyes are a bit darker
the stars no longer shine

peace & love

Beautiful poem. What event in your life made you write this?
This poem reminds me of a friend of mine.

thanks! when i wrote it, i was thinking about some friends of mine who were really two faced and users (not just to me, but to each other). that poem is a reflection of their actions, but the character is based on my little sister. i hope to god she never meets anyone like that. i cant protect her from those people but shell have to learn. hopefully not like i did :( oh well what doesnt kill us makes us stronger wiser & kynder to others. :)

peace & love

I identified with this as well, and it makes me wonder if the experience you write of is one that most people encounter and is possibly one of the sadder parts of growing up.

I like it a lot!

It made me think of how people do get hurt and used as they "go around the block", and how that makes us grow those antennae. At my age I've been around the block many times and my antennae now warn me, very quickly, of the kind of people to stay away from. It's sad to lose that innocense (sp) but without losing it one would be a victim all thier life.

Peace,
Cassandra

I too have had to learn that lesson the hard way, and have fine tuned my antennae. And the people I see as hurtful, I just don't take seriously.

So, in other words, I agree!
