I just submitted my comments to the USDA telling them to protect the integrity of organics by not approving the use of genetically modified (GMO) alfalfa. The USDA has alarmingly and mistakenly announced that they do not believe that consumers care whether or not GMOs are a part of our food supply and our agricultural production. Approving GMO alfalfa would significantly harm the integrity of and access to organic food, as well as the livelihoods of organic farmers. We need to show them that we do indeed care!
Please take a moment to submit your comments to the USDA by following this link from Food Democracy Now! Then please pass this on.

They suck the farmers in and then they cant get out, stuck with monsanto seed forever, its like they sold their soul to the devil.
Not sure if this is still correct, Ive read a few different articles.
If GMOs are indeed responsible for massive sickness and death, then the individual who oversaw the FDA policy that facilitated their introduction holds a uniquely infamous role in human history. That person is Michael Taylor. He had been Monsanto's attorney before becoming policy chief at the FDA. Soon after, he became Monsanto's vice president and chief lobbyist.

I remember that when this issue was on the ballot here. "THEY" made it about police, fire, and school funding. The theory; if the agg buisness responds favorably to GMO then there would be increased tax revenue. Now the arguement shifted from the irresponsibility of GMO to whether or not to fund these crucial public serices. So that is what people voted on. Most people I spoke to were unaware of what GMOs even were only that "if this proposition doesn't pass we will (now get this) LOSE FUNDING FOR OUR SOCIAL SEVICES". ???

The muckrakers had successfully heightened public awareness of safety issues stemming from careless food preparation procedures and the increasing incidence of drug addiction from patent medicines, both accidental and conscious. Scientific support came from Dr. Harvey W. Wiley, the Department of Agriculture's chief chemist, who published his findings on the widespread use of harmful preservatives in the meat-packing industry. The experience of American soldiers with so-called “embalmed beef” during the Spanish-American War added impetus to the movement.
