I already posted a bit of an intro, but I'll be the first newbie to post here. My name is Ellen, I have two cats, a dog, a 6.5 month old daughter and my partner (male, btw ;) )
I'm an at home mom right now but when I'm working I'm a Veterinary Office Assistant (VOA) and a hostess at an RV resort.
We live in Victoria, BC, Canada.

Hey everybody! I am kyle. I am a senior in high school. I have been looking for a place to share some of my writing with people because I have kept it somewhat private and I want to change it. My writings are actually songs even though most people find it hard to believe because they are more of a story then a song but my friend and i have a little acoustic group and it works out believe it or not. haha.

sounds like you're writing some C&W music, and there's nothing wrong with that. most of those songs are a story. CCR and the Eagles did great as rock bands playing country style music.and don't even forget about the Grateful Dead, lots of story telling in their songs. lets see some of your stuff!!!

Oh, Lol! Notice it also says "and bottle washer"?
I'm the only cook at.....home. Yes, I'm a housewife. Imagine some kind of world war 2 or depression era cookery. Except I don't use sawdust. I cook for a man who will eat anything.
The only "professional" cooking I've done is fast food/quick service. You know, where there are pictures that even a five year old can understand, to show you how to cook the food?
What kind of chef are you? Where do you cook? How long did you go to school? Where? Want my tuna pie recipe?
Lol.

so i already screwed up and posted before posting here. lol
so heres the c/p from that thread
Hi there
I'm new here
Nice to meet you all. Do i know any of you from other boards maybe?
I'm Barb, 39 (yes, really i turn 40 this summer). I'm married to my best friend Tommy. We live in Phoenix, Arizona with our 3 kids, 2 dogs, 2 fancy blue rats and way too many toys.
I dye silk (see sig) for a bit of extra cash and i babysit a little boy too so I can stay home and raise my little babies. I have a teenager in freshman year of highschool from my first marriage, an almost 5 year old starting kindergarten in the fall and my 19month old little man.
They keep me busy. We're fairly 'crunchy'. We cloth diapered zoey and Roman til recently when the rashes got the best of us. We cosleep/family bed, use gentle discipline only, we're into the concept of attached parenting. I sing in the praise rock worship band at our church. We wear alot of tiedye, i wear birks or nothing lol. My friends refer to me as the earth mother or hippie mama. I don't know if i'm really all that crunchy, more al dente cuz we eat too much garbage, watch too much tv/movies and i like jewelry alot. LOL
so thats me pretty much. Who's all here and what do you guys do here for fun?
oh and do any of you like to trade? lol
Anyway, glad to be here.

Hey gang, just figured I'd drop a line here to say Howdy.
I'm currently getting our home business website up and going. When we get some money saved up I plan on buying a few banners here on this board. If you would like to see our website you can go here: www.paisleydays.com
or click on my signature at any time.
My wife does custom sewing and she will use your own patterns and/or your material and come up with somehting good. I do web graphics and hand painted/drawn/sculpted art. I am also a budding green thumb. I plan to get alot of use out of the gardening forum. We also play in a band called: Outhouse Moan (www.outhousemoan.com). I play washboard and theremin and JuJu plays tamborine, jews harp, and other various instruments.
I guess that's it.
Peace.

I play soccer, hike, kayak, ski, snowshoe, and run. I am going to Oregon State next year to study Forest Recreation Resources. My favorite band/singer is ani difranco (my gf got me into her music). Hello all, I'm Doug, age 55, doin' my own thing since the '60's. Seems like a nice bunch of pholks here. Goin' to Bonnaroo this year, second trip down to Manchester...champing at the bit for some warm weather, we had over 77 inches of snow this winter (set a new record)...these past 2 days have been beautiful. Hope you all are doing fine.
I'm a retired (medical) utilities worker, picked up Hep-c somewhere in my travels, had a transplant about 10 yrs. ago. I love to travel, listen to all types of music (my friends say eclectic), camp, canoe and fish for LM Bass. Married for 36 yrs. w/2 daughters and 4 grandkids (LOVE EM TO DEATH). Family has always been my #1 priority. Right now we're babysitting for my youngest daughter, so I've got a 3, 4 and 8 yr. old keeping me very, very busy.

I got back into sewing (yeah, i know...a guy that sews....i'm not gay, i promise). I make all kinds of patchwork clothing, bags, blankets...pretty much anything i can imagine. So if you're interested in any of my goods, lemme know and we can work something out. I love trades...money's just not as fun. :)
I also am a singer/songwriter and am currently in the process of writing with a group of incredible musicians and am pleased with the outcome so far (in the vein of SCI, The Dead, MMW, etc.)
That's all for now...when I find a pic I'll post one for you all to see...

I'm a 29 years old guy from far far away [actually its more like far far far far far far away, but I thought that if I wrote it this way, it will sounds really boring] and I work for an international company that sells Russian nuclear war heads to the terrorists around the world, its a great company really and have an excellent customer support, and every now and then I meet famous people, you know, like the other day I met Ossama, he looks different then what you see on the TV, but he is very nice guy for a mass murderer, and funny too, I really liked his jokes about Bush.
What else, hmm....,ya, I like chocolate and children [mostly fried] and I like to spend my free time watching commercials, also, I really like these voices in my head a lot, I mean they entertain me better then having your own radio station, but there is that special voice [you know yourself] I just want to tell him that I don't appreciate him asking me to jump off the 11th floor in my pink t-shirt...it will be very embarrassing since that t-shirt has a tea stain on it.

I love music, especially Phish, but also lots of funky jazz.

Ha! I guess they must need to cast a "hippie family" on their show. I wonder who they're going to swap them with. I've never seen that show so I don't know what it's all about, but the name itself makes the feminist in me lurch and puke.

I saw one of them. Basically, the moms go to each others family, try to control the kids, all that. By the time it ended the Moms were really glad to be back with thier own families. It showed the vast difference between families.
A hippy swap? lol. Ok, Purple can come live with Thor and I can go live with Delta and try to tell him to stop eating toadstools, lol.

Seriously now, ABC is posting in forums to find people for shows???
Surely ABC provides a better budget than that?
Is your name really Bob, and maybe you're a threehundred pound, fifty eight year old man?

Oh No! It's all true. I spoke with her on the telephone, actually. I was really curious to hear what this was all about, though I knew I wouldn't be a candidate due to my pregnancy... I was just sort of curious. So, I sent Stefanie at ABC an email and she emailed back asking for my phone number. I gave it to her and she called me. She was very pleasant and interested in speaking with me until she found out I was pregnant with a one year old and then she lost interest and got off the phone really quickly.
My suspicion is that they're looking for a "hippie" family and what better way to find people than posting in places like this. I think it's easy to get on those reality shows if you're stereotypical enough.
Speaking of reality shows...Does anyone want to call up TLC and tell them I need a make-over and go on the Make-over story with me? Or better yet, I'd be a shoe in to be on What Not To Wear. Clinton and Stacie would love me and let me buy maternity clothes from Pea in the Pod... ahhhhhh... dare to dream.

BandAide, you're right! I still didn't believe it so I went and did a search. I found an article but it didn't say anything about hippies. It said they were looking for a couple with one kid. And her name is all over the place on sites, mostly message boards.
I'm amazed ABC has someone doing it that way.
Sorry, Stefanie. I guess you're not a big fat old man after all, lol.

Cass

On the contrary of Bob....my name really is Stefanie and im not quite a big, fat, bald man. But, I do understand where you are coming from. I know how people react to this sort of thing. I do appreciate the message from the woman I spoke with on the phone. She too was very pleasant but we couldn't use her because she was pregnant and had a young one. We preferable need children who over the age of 5 because they are an integral part of the show and we like for them to have opinions and be able to express themselves. We have never had a "hippie" family on our show and we thought that it would be great! If anyone is interested in finding out more about the show, please contact me!

Merry meet, all!
I'm Jillian...26 year old stay at home mom of daughter, Rhavenn, who will be 4 next month, and son, Breckin, who is 5 months old. My husband, Curtis, is in college right now.
I recently discovered my creative outlet of sewing, and I am working on several different items now. I needed something to help release my frustration of being a veteran of the war in Iraq. I am so glad to be home and out of the military forever. It's funny that we do things in high school that we think will change our lives forever...not knowing that the change will be for the worse, and not for the better as originally hoped. Anyway, now I'm dealing with the aftermath. My life is getting back on track and I'm looking forward to simplifying our family's life again.
There's so much that I'd love to share, but I'll save some for another time. I can't wait to chat with all of you. :group_hug

guess what? today i learned to KNIT! yay!!! i actually taught myself using two pencils and a bit of yarn. it's fun!!! i can't wait until i can go buy myself some real knitting needles, the pencils i think are making it a bit tough...
also - we just resuced the sweetest kitty cat! he's about 7 weeks old, the sweetest orange tabby. we're sorta calling him Smeghead "big Red" ... i dunno why, that's just what we're calling him. he's the sweetest little man. he likes to sleep on my belly under my shirt, i suppose he feels safe in there.
Summer is almost here! yay! anybody have any cool plans or raodtrips or anything on their agenda? so far i don't... just playing on the coast, camping inthe mountains, going for long bike rides, and checking out a few shows and faires and things....
hope you all are feeling fine!

Hi all. My name is Cassie, I am 19 years old. I live in Wisconsin in a small city that is starting to be not so small. I am going to college to get my associates degree in accounting. I would like to move on to a small farm in the middle of nowhere as soon as I possibly can. I enjoy reading almost any book I can get my hands on, sewing, knitting, counted cross stitch, croceting(sp?), gardening, and learning about homesteading. I live with my mom and 17 year old brother. My mom and grandma both share my love of gardening. My mom and grandma lived on a farm with my grandpa, aunt, and uncle back in the late 70's/ early 80's. My grandma and mom also would like to live out in the country.

I'm 21, from Connecticut, and a student. I'm really into the Dead and Phish and Star Trek and outdoors stuff like hiking, biking, camping, etc. I also love to bake, read, make clothes, etc. Hmm... I'm going to school for Health Ed. - I want to teach elementary or middle school - I want to teach kids to live healthy lifestyles and that taking care of oneself isn't a chore. I took some time off, so I'm a little behind, but that's not a big deal - I'm very excited to start school in the fall.

Hi there!
I'm brand new here. Just got home from some time abroad. Going back to Southern California is such a strange feeling. I've done it many times, trying to find a shangri-la at other places and from time to time going back home to see my parents and loved ones. I'm neither here nor there, not even caught in between.
I'm sure I'll get over the reverse culture shock in a few days, but Southern Cal seems strange to me.
Any thoughts to cheer me up?

I love the Dead, yoga, ballet, and gardening (and da ganja, but not for awhile!) Well... that's really all I've got to say, I suppose... :D

the time has come,
to reach a new realization 'tween me and you,
time to clear the rumors, sensations,
and things that just are untrue.
well i thought i heard you behind me,
with a knife stright for my back.
it's quite clear that i'm back in the swing of living,
although i might not be on the right track.
oh, thought i might drown but its hard to keep a good man...
downtown's wheres you'll find me,
through some ill gotten' hand
although i never listen girl, i damn well understand.
and you think, i'm so damn feeble.
i can't see through your lies, you'r just a crock of shit,

Hi everyone!! I'm really happy to have found these boards - you guys seem like a great bunch!! My name is Jessica and I am married to wonderful DH - Les. We have a one year old son and he is the light of our life.
I am a WAHM (work-at-home-mama) making baby carriers and childrens clothes. DH is an electrical salesman and together we are big into living the hippie "lifestyle" and nurturing our son in that way of life as well. We practice attachment parenting - babywearing, cloth diapering, BF-ing, co-sleeping, etc. We try and live a very simple life and enjoy the beauty of nature and the blessings around us.
We would love to get to know some fellow hippies to share our journey with! I can't wait to browse around the boards some more.
Thanks for reading!! :)
Love and light,
Jess

I'm hippie from 60's, have been many things, but have tried to stay that always. What I'm from seems relevant- claim to be related to Davy Crockett, gggguncle Jack went on a trip with Lewis and Clark, gggrandad was a circuit rider, one grandfather built a local phone company - the other was a moonshiner, my dad could and would build anything. The women seem just as colorful, all hell bent on education, teachers, nurses, dortors amd lawyers.
I'm rural, kansas-oklahoma border rural, cow drives because you had to move the cows, fishing-anyway that puts food on the table, hunting same thing. When I moved to the big city with my eng. degree I lasted 4 whole months before I had to get out. While teaching I think I meet the best people. While being an oilman(producer) I meet the worst.
Have died a couple of times now, they bring me back, but it has changed the way I think and look at life.
So what's important now-- life-wife-family-freinds-town-state-nation-world.
Have a great day T L Ranger

Whew. ::wipes forehead:: Wow. Twenty-two pages.
Well, I'm Kira. A wacky 14y chick who is a vegetarian, very into finding eco-friendly ways to live, and all that good stuff. I live in Colorado, and man am I enjoying the mountains. We have some great organic markets out here too, just not in the town I live in..(shucks)
Anyways, I'm currently babysitting to be able to afford all the fair-trade and eco-friendly products I like to use. I have two cats, two parakeets, two fish, two hamsters, a dog, and a horse. So I guess I'm becoming Noah's Arc [sp?].
Let's see..I don't have children..which is good, at fourteen anyways. I have been in a relationship for about two months..and I think that's it.
Well, I'm glad I found this place. It seems like everyone's awesome, so I'm looking forward to posting.

It's been a long strange trip, for sure, but I wouldn't have had it any other way!
Am presently living in coastal N.C. making furniture and cabinets in my little one man shop. (for the rabid environmentalists: I only use non-endangered native species of wood in my work. I'm very sensitive as to the proper use and disposal of all chemicals used. Not a single piece of wood is wasted...I heat my home w/wood!)
I've been posting on a number of boards but they always seem to end up being shouting matches over political polarization. I found this place and figured it has to be mellower than the others. After all, what's mellower than a bunch o' hippies? :D
I'm a serious Djembefola and love World Beat. My fondest wish is to jam with Mickey Hart. We're moving to San Fran in the near future so....I might yet get my chance!!!

I`m a flower girl from Germany. It´s hard to find people around here (in Germany) who think and feel the same way I do, who like the good old music and do understand why I call myself a hippie.
Wow, even though all of you are living so far away, it feels like we all meet here and therefore are so close together.
Kinda like being on Yasgurs farm. So many people from all over the place.
Happy to be back!

Hi, my name is Flor Arballo, Im 25 years old, journalist by carreer (and that is what the diploma says) but human rights activist by passion and principles.
I work 2 jobs, during the morning time I work for a very well known human rights organization in San Francisco, CA. (www.aiusa.org) doing latino outreach (oh, btw Im from Mexico (born and raised there), moved to the US 2 years ago) and a coordinator for the Stop Violence Agaisnt Women Campaign.
I basically educate, promote, and fight for human rights, its just what I do, in any way possible. Not only the basic rights, but the social, economical and cultural rights too.
Ok, and in the evenings as a side job and to make some extra rent money, I tutor and give spanish classes to kids. Im more of a private tutor. So, its ok, because even though is not my area of expertise, I worked as an ESL teacher for a long time back in my country. Plus it helps pay the bills for my non-profit day time job. :)
Ok, so, what else??? I have a boyfriend, a puppy called Dakota (who is a pain in the butt usually, but too cute to be mad at) and Im living the San Francisco life to its fullest.
Ok, so here you go, Im looking forward to meet all of you!
Peace!

nice to meet you.
so which place are you gonna visit this summer?
don´t worry about the germans. they´re always confused with new, creative alternative stuff. but fortunatelly, not all of them are.
i live in a "big" college town, so half of the people living here are students. so they mostly don´t care. and even if, i just ignore them. everybody got his/ her own style.
i was 15 when i got into the hippie stuff. i was the first in our school wearing bell bottom pants. you don´t wanna know how many people made fun of me back then. but it didn´t change anything. i´m still wearing them and i love it.
if you wanna talk some german go ahead, would love to hear from you, but maybe not here at the forum. would be unfair to all the ones that do not understand it.
i´m fine with english. i lived in the states for two years and now teaching my roommates kids english, so they grow up bilingual.
so talk to you soon.
flowers and butterflies to you
hope
and Pedata
in case you´re reading this
THANKS for welcoming me!!!

Hi all...
Just a quick introduction - I'm from the Interior of BC. Not much else to tell - I've got a wife, a dog, a rabbit (with a severe attitude problem) and a child on the way.

(insert Homer Simpson voice here) Hmmmm hippies. Happy Hippies?! Wrong place. DOH! Hmmmmm.........donuts. OK I'll stay.
Last happy day? 19th January, 2001 Been going downhill ever since. Started wondering awhile back what happened to all the hippies/hippys? I guess most of them were pozers. The rest decided to work within the system, and got sidetracked diversifying their portfolios. I know I'm not alone. Are the rest of them here?
I'm an old geezer hippy, ex pro photographer, born again computer geek. Veteran of the 60's, more specifically the Sunset Strip, Griffith Park Love-In scene. Got puter probs, give me a holler. I'll try to help you. Visit my site. I don't sell anything there, just have fun, play old '60s 70's music, (when was the last time you listened to Sky Saxon and The Seeds?) and rant and rave about this and that. Come for the music, and stay for the rest. No politics, except for my Mother Earth page. See ya around!

I am afraid I do not understand. You say that you have a wife, a dog, a rabbit and a child on the way? How is this possible? I am perturbed.
