So I tried organizing a demo/protest against KFC last weekend but the prospects of it actually going through deteriorated at the begginning of last week. The animal rights club at my school that was supposed to partake in the demo got basically called away from it by our principle who didn't want our school to be affiliated with such a controversial protest *gotta love catholic schools* and then more people bailed the night before so I was left with 3 other people. We went and leafletted but, thats not enough.
Does anyone have any ideas on who else I could ask to get involved with the demo and where else I could find people? I'm gonna try again probably around March 15th. Thanksss

Why do you hate KFC.. I like the food and would it not be smarter to open your own business in an attempte to take them out? protest are messy, and never really seen one work to it's full extent

Aaahhh ~ No KFC has refused to comply with PETAs and the publics demands to enforce more humane conditions in "processing" aka slaughtering the chickens they use for the food. They get the chicken from Yum! and PETA has asked that KFC set a standard for the chickens by
1) Adopting Gas Killing of the Birds
2) Adopt automated Chicken Gathering
3) Breed for leaner less aggressive birds
Its scary that THESE are the minimal conditions KFC are asked to enforce. Now, the mothers beaks are chopped off, the birds are crowded by the tens of thousands in tiny wire cages "where disease, smothering, lung failure and heart attacks are common. After a hellish ride crammed into tony crates, often through extreme weather conditions, they are hung upside down, have their throats slit, and often scalded alive while they are still concious." (1 KFC Fact Sheet).
So no to offend, but if you think I'm going to sit around while thats happening hoping to jump start a SUCCESFULL business big enough to buy out KFC, you're crazy. If people don't start taking action NOW theres no hope in improvement in the conditions these birds are exposed to. Now, that you are educated about WHY I'm doing this, check out www.KentuckyFriedCruelty.com and maybe your opinion on eating there and supporting their business might sway. Please help.

i agree... the answer to protesting a business or their principiles is not to just simply ignore their cruel practices and just open your own business. KFC is way to big a franchise for a single business to compete with it, let alone do much for the principle of protest.

maybe getting involved with a larger more public group that supports the cause would help you instead of just relying on the small group at your school who only seems to be bailing on you.

You have to destroy from within-

First, get a job at KFC. Offer to work nights and weekends, and tell them you want to be trained to take orders in the drive thru. That will get you hired.

Once you are hired and trained you can start destroying from within. Wearing a headset frees you up to run all over the place. This is very handy.

At night when the outside sign is turned on find a chance to get to the switch, without being noticed, and turn it off. When that sign is not lit up people will go somewhere else.

When a customer pulls up to the drivethru speaker say "I'm sorry, we're closed".

Offer to help at the pack table (where the orders are packed). When no one is looking throw pieces of chicken in the trash. This will make the night manager's count come out wrong. He/she will get frustrated, eventually, and find another job. Too many managment changes will cause problems for a restaurant.

While you are working, every now and then while there are customers at the speaker, push the button to your headset, the one for the speaker, and act like you're talking to a co-worker. Say things like "Did he spit in the gravy again?" and "They dropped a whole tray of chicken on the floor but they wiped it off good." and "I don't have time to wash my hands!" and "Stop sneezing in the potatoes" and "She has streph throat but we're too short to let her go home".

Keep it up and soon they won't have any customers.

Ha ha ha,
Cassandra

You must be my long lost sister clone. You just said what I was thinking, but I have a bug and can't think, so someone else must think for me.

The protests don't work. They actually make people mad and that makes them buy the "forbidden" product even more- kind of thier own kind of protest. People do not like an organization telling them what they can eat and wear.

I think they blew it when they said they were going to teach wolves the advantages of a vegeterian diet. Then what? Farmers shooting wolves for getting in the cabbage patches, lol!

Right now the protest is against KFC. It will be forgetten when another protest comes along. Then another. And another.

Slaughter houses are not pretty. They never have been. If you're squeamish they will freak you out. There is no kind way to slaughter. Maybe they could play sad music to the chickens and wait until they're all depressed then offer them suicide feed.

Just my random fever thoughts........

Peace,
Cassandra
