just today i met my court appointed attorney b/c i'm facing a class b misdemeanor, visiting a common nuissance. there was a drug bust at the house i was staying and i hadnt smoked, possessed drugs or even seen any drugs. yet i was arrested "just for being in a place where drugs are used." thats a pretty lame charge, but i could still get 6 months in jail. that is the law in Indiana, as fucked up as it is. know of any other bullshit charges?

that cant be true, thats too funny, so gay marraiges are definitly out in your state!!!!
actually in a town near me you can get arrested for spitting on the side walk, not that I would but its from long long ago when women wore long dress's and they would touch the side walk, but they dont enforce it!!

For adults; Strange Sex Laws (http://www.sexscrolls.net/laws.html), some excerpts:
-- In Bakersfield, California, anyone having intercourse with Satan
must use a condom. (An asbestos one we presume.)
-- No man is allowed to make love to his wife with the smell of garlic,
onions, or sardines on his breath in Alexandria, Minnesota. If his wife
so requests, law mandates that he must brush his teeth.
-- It is illegal for any member of the Nevada Legislature to conduct
official business wearing a penis costume while the legislature is in
session.
Hahaha!
Some general Strange Laws (http://www.strangecosmos.com/content/item/105775.html); excerpts:
San Francisco:
- It is illegal to wipe one’s car with used underwear.
New York:
- A person may not walk around on Sundays with an ice cream cone in his/her pocket.
Oklahoma City:
- No one may walk backwards downtown while eating a hamburger.
And more seriously, check out the drug law timeline (http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/History/drug_law_timeline.htm), NORML's talking points (http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=3381) and drogpolicy.org (http://www.drugpolicy.org/). Prohibition is bad for all of us.

Oh and, Sunny, check out NORML: Indiana Legal Affilates (http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?wtm_view=legal&Group_ID=4536). These people are required to come to some NORML conference and make sure they know about drug law in their state well, so, maybe you can talk to one of them.

Sunny, that DOES suck and it IS horrible.
It's also why I'm a little bit skeptical when people talk about how lax they are on pot charges (marijuana is what we're talking about, right?) I hear about stuff like this and I think, "idunno..."

Well...I live in Wisconsin...the BIG DAIRY STATE....and up till fairly recently margarine was illegal here. People used to have to drive to Illinois to get margarine.
Then for a while they could sell margarine here, but it COULDN'T look like butter. So they couldn't put dye in it..it'd be an icky lardy white color. The manufacturers would include a little glob of orangy dye that you'd have to mix into it to turn it a bit yellow. It'd come in a plastic bag and that was usually the kid's job...to squish the dye into the lardy white Oleo!
But..on a more serious note...Wisconsin is also a big drinking state and it's hard not to fall into the alcohol culture.
I was working on a construction job in Milwaukee, carpooling with some other construction guys...70 mile drive one way. It was a hot July day so we stopped to get a six pack. Mind you, the driver was not drinking, but we, the passengers did each have a beer, in the back seat.
As luck would have it, the driver got into an accident. So...the cops found out that we (the passengers) had a beer in the car. He fined all of us. Okay. I can live with that.
Get this... I WON'T drive if I've been drinking. And this didn't happen in my vehicle. But MY insurance company cancelled MY insurance even though I didn't even have any points, wasn't driving, and wasn't in my vehicle!
I have a perfect driving record ..no speeding tickets, no accidents, and my insurance was cancelled because I had a beer in the back seat of a car on a hot day coming home from work...sheesh.

i too, live in wisconsin, eau claire. about 2 years ago in my city they decriminalized small amounts. as in if you're busted you get a fine as a city ordinance violation, but there's a shitload of stipulations to it so for some it may be a catch-22 for some.

Lol, it's just an old law still on the books. Also illegal- leading a cow blindfolded down the road. Hanging any laundry on a sunday.

I think part of the problem is stupid laws and part of the problem is curupt police people. I had a pipe planted on me by a police officer and boy was I mad! I got myself out but still I missed a whole bunch of school and had to go to 6 or 7 court dates for doing absolutely nothing. I don't travel anywhere with illegal stuff. If I have some I go straight home. I don't mess around with the law. They'll find any little reason to get you!
