Heh...I haven't been following this very closely as I don't have any children....but this reminds me of a VERY funny story:

I have a friend...he's 65 years old and a total hippie. But a little clueless on some of the newer concepts.

He went to some sort of a show where they had lots of hippie-ish stuff...herbs and stuff.

He comes to a booth where he sees all these cloth things...He picks one up and is smelling it (he loves scents of all kinds), he's rubbing it on his face..just caressing it. Mostly smelling it.

Then he asks the woman selling it what it was.

You guessed it; it was a moon pad.

Lots and lots of women use cloth moon pads - just do a google search for "cloth pads" sometime, and see what you come up with! They're very comfy, and very easy to use, too. We cloth diaper here, have used cloth pads since about 1994, and switched to cloth bathroom wipes (aka FBW's - Flannel Bum Wipes) about 3 years ago. Since I had a diaper pail in use at the time of the switch, it was as easy as could be. Now I don't even think about it - everything goes in the pail. Even if I didn't have any babies in diapers, I'd still have enough for a laundry load a week, because of the FBW's flannel hankies, prefold diapers used as cleaning rags or mess-moppers (we don't use paper towels, either) and what have you. Is this what you were thinking of? To me, cloth napkins are the pieces of cloth used to wipe your mouth at the dinner table. One of those probably wouldn't cut it as a menstrual pad, because dinner napkins aren't big enough to fold into enough absorbent layers. They'd work okay as FBW's, but why bother? Use your napkins for napkins, and rip up an old sheet to make your FBW's instead.
