i know that i've heard somewhere that dreaming about teeth is never a good thing... if that's true then i KNOW this dream was not good!!
All of my teeth were shattering in my mouth... not just falling out, but as if you dropped a glass on concrete.. shattering!! when people weren't looking, i would try and spit as much as i could out.. but then as soon as i thought someone was looking, i would stop.
Pieces of my teeth were getting caught in my tonsils, and i was swallowing pieces.. i mean, this was a disaster
does anyone have any idea what to make of this dream?!!

What I found on losing teeth are these
Losing teeth is a common symbol in a dream indicating a change in the way the dreamer assimilates what is learned
Losing one’s teeth is a common dream reflecting concerns about one’s physical and social appearances, and effectiveness in a competitive environment. Occasionally can reflect literal concerns about dental conditions or procedures.
But on the teeth shattering, I think you might find this link (http://www.dreamdoctor.com/common/teeth4.shtml) a bit interesting. I was also surprised that there are old threads about teeth related dreams in the old forums here (http://www.happyhippie.com/ubb/Forum11/HTML/000011.html) and here (http://www.happyhippie.com/ubb/Forum11/HTML/000013.html).

The second quote made the most sense to me. Also, there are so many tooth products advertisments lately. Especially whitening products. I think they have an effect on people- making us fear we don't have nice enough teeth. Hence, bad dreams. Just my thoughts.

I always have dreams about my teeth, weekly. Ill put them together and they'll just break and fall out or I fall and bust them out its always something, I am not concerned with my appearence, I happen to like my appearence but I do have a space in my front teeth that USED to bother my so maybe thats why, who knows but it freaks me out, when I wake up I am just glad I still have my teeth!! I like the space now its like lauren huttens (sp) and shes beautifull with her space!!

thanks for all your input! i'm not quite sure what it means... i dont really have appearance concerns, but then again i guess who doesn't have them a little bit?
A very common dream theme and one of the more realistic. This coincides with a fear of aging and often missing out on things in life (sometimes coupled with procrastination).
now, procrastination... thats quite an issue with me..
i seem to have a lot of dreams where my teeth are loose... then wake up frantically thinking my teeth are actually loose!! but i've never had the shattering happen before... wow maybe my procrastination is getting worse :sprachlos

i have procrastination problems too:cheers:
wow maybe my procrastination is getting worse ...
...i dunno about getting worse?...maybe you're just thinking about it more these days...for whatever reason? I usually get this with strict deadlines...I'm like "mañana", "mañana"...until its the day before...then i work feverishly on it :huepfen02
Everyone works at their own pace though...it'll all work out... mañana!!!:D

That is the popular interpretation here in SE Asia but I thought it was just because of the culture difference.
decorating_gal, where are you from?

well I know now why I have teeth dream, I went to the dentist today, first time in 8-9 years I need 4 root canals 4 filings and I have tmj which I knew but holy shit, I havent gone cause I have no insurance and I brush 2 time a day and floss everyday my teeth are white and clean but I grind them in my sleep and alot during the day, bad habit created tmj and bad enamal thus creating many problems, the root canals are in the ballpark of $1000.00 each !!!! either that or pull them I dont know what to do, they are all back molars too if I pull them you wont see it but Ill be eating pudding for the rest of my life!! I cried at the dentist I felt like a fool, It was $90.00 for the cleaning and x rays , I am on a waiting list for insurance but I could be waiting for years, I am so fustrated I have taken good care of my teeth aside from the grinding!!
well anyway I guess thats why I always had teeth dreams!!!!

awww man!! i'm so sorry to hear all that! needed dentistry work is never good news :(
i dont want to scare you or anything, but i've heard some pretty nasty horror stories about root canals... what happens with getting them is a lot of times a 'space' is left open in your jaw after the surgery, leaving the ultimate breeding ground for bacteria.. leading to way more problems.
i can try and scrape up some info for you... my sister was faced with either having to get a root canal or getting the tooth pulled, and ended up getting the tooth pulled because of the root canal risks.
i'm sorry.. i dont mean to add more stress to your situation, i just want you to be alright!!

Oh, Libra, I'm so sorry :( Yes, teeth are so freaking expensive. I had really good dental insurance once and was starting the process of getting a lot of work done. After having a bunch of teeth pulled and anticipating partials, I got fired from the nursing home (kept catching things and calling in sick). There went all my teeth plans. I have no molars anymore. Eating is difficult.
All I can say is soft soft food. Crock pot or stew everything.

I still dont know what to do, it sucks if I get the root canals they want them done at the same time and that would be thousands of dollars, which has to be paid in full no payments, I'd have to take out a loan, if I pull them then I will be missing 2 back teeth on one side and 2 on the other top and bottom you wont see them missing but still I am only 25!!! my moms on vacation Ill wait till she comes back for some mommy advice!!
no insurance sucks!!!!!
