...well it's a "black day" in Canada as 4 federal agents were gunned down while attemping to raid a grow-op in Alberta. The lone gunman then took his own life. And the body count continues to rise in this war on such an innocent plant. I already see the negative propaganda...which if it continues will instill fear in society and peoples perception of the herb will go back to "Reefer Madness" times... :(

I saw this. Another setback... I wish someone could name for me just one person who would stand to be hurt if growing and selling marijuana were legalized. (other than tobacco companies and distilleries)Make it legal to grow as a legitimate small business, sell less than a half pound at a time, put a small tax on it. We would save a fortune on law enforcement, we would put a major damper on organized crime, we would stop fucking up kid's lives, we would stop getting people killed over plant material, and we could all have easy access to high grade herb, so we could all be happy, relaxed and enlightened in a perfectly safe and health way with nothing but positive effects on others. It has gotten to the point that to not leagalize marijuana is just a stupid excersise in ignorance and intolerance, and all it's doing is what those two always do; hurt people, hurt society, and make the world an even more unpleasant place to live. :bandit:

Yup..that's all the neocons need...another excuse to keep this "war against drugs" going...
Hate to change the subject but it's a little bit related...I work at a university where they're on the cutting edge of stem cell research...well the holier than thou neocons (cough gwbush cough) put so many restrictions on it to please the anti abortion people, that now we're pretty much impotent. Brazil just legalized stem cell research on human embryos...and there's literally THOUSANDS of frozen embryos from fertility clinics going unused. This is medical advancement that could make THOUSANDS...maybe even MILLIONS of people's lives so much better....and these frozen embryos are languishing...it makes me sick.
I SO agree with you, Toman. Regulate it, legalize it, and lots of people would just sorta be mellow and happy......our country'd be a better place IMNSHO.
Anyway, it's another example of the royal STUPIDITY our government supports in the name of fear, propaganda, and bowing to the religious right..

the number one reason they won't leagalize herb is because they don't want to admit they are wrong!!

Actually, the number one and two reasons are because the Pharmecuitical companies won't stand to benefit since anyone can grow it, and the law enforcement budget, specifically that of the DEA would be cut. The DEA says on their own website they use more than half of their funding to fight marijauna.
People with power don't like to relenquish it.

This 78 yr old woman got busted not too long with a pound of pot. Her 72 yr old boyfriend and her grand daughter and her husband started fighting about something and they found it in her freezer.

It would be nice if it were legal, but the truth is that its too hard to regulate. Anyone can grow a plant if they really want to. The law counts too much on marijana arrest and profit. When I was at this festival, Smilefest last summer, I got arrested for simple possesion along with 200 other people and it was a very small fest. :bawl:
I just dont see legalization in the near future, though its a nice thought. :group_hug

Only if we let them present it that way. The man was a *known* psychopath. The grow op was just what they happened to be trying to get him for.
The occupant was certainly known to people in Rochfort Bridge.
''He's dangerous,'' said one woman, who didn't want to give her name. ''You don't want to go on his land. He'll shoot you.''
''He does what he wants, when he wants, and doesn't care about anybody else,'' said another. ''I was told to stay away from him.''
He probably didn't even KNOW they were cops when he shot them and then shot himself when he realized he killed some cops.
On a good front... Canada overgrowing the government (http://www.happyhippie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=715)

It turns my stomach that human lives were lost over something so silly. It's irrational, yet things like that happen so often.

I agree its horrible to hear about death. I also think the war on drugs has little to do with the drugs or people who use them.
I mean drunk people run over padestrians all the time and beer is legal if your 21. It's a double standard my hippie friends. They denounce the lifestyle not the drug.
My philosophies astound me!
Peace!
