Has anyone ever noticed that when someone tells you to be tolerant of someone elses point of veiw, they usually mean everyone's opinion but your own. And, if, when we spoke and then what was said appeared in subtitles it would go,"Everyone has the right to their own opinion, you need to be more sensitive to other people's beliefs and more tolerant of their point of veiw." Now what they really just said was, "Shut Up and listen to me, this person is much too stupid to think or speak for himself therefore I appoint myself to speak for them. OKAY? Now, your opinion does'nt count....and since I speak for them we've decided you're out numbered". So there you have it, the "ONE" with the biggest mouth becomes," popular opinion". And somewhere, somehow even when "popular opinion" actually does reflects the way most folks feel- it then becomes the law or the rule and the "I's" and "we's" then become the "thems". And in an insane cycle another self appointed, self annoited big mouth surfaces to be the "ONE" to start it all over again. Case in point , when I was a freshman in High School, "THEY" had a rule No SMOKING on campus. So some"ONE" said hey these are not just kids these are people, young adults who are capable of making decisions for themselves. ( actually most of us if we did smoke were hiding it from our parents anyway) So "THEY" gave us a smoking area. And we smoked, and smoked, liberated, emancipated, yes we had the green light and we now had permission so we smoked. "THEY" did'nt like it, the fact we were doing "it" and doing "it" openly but it "was" our right. So "they"grudgingly watched us "do it" from where they were "doing it". So years go by, with hundreds of happy, free, liberated, emancipated smiling future cancer patients graduating . Till one day some"ONE" says, hey smoking is bad for you, and it stinks! Something that stinks that bad can't be good for the one smelling it.... some"ONE" needs to do something about this second hand smoke thing. Its just awful "THEY" do it in bars, "THEY" do it in resturaunts, you know I even heard of schools with smoking areas "THEY" are trying to kill our children........You see the "ONE" has never changed, just rotated into a "THEY". So I guess the point is.... there is really no such thing as popular opinion just a few BIG mouths. And next time someone tells you to be tolerant or sensitive make sure they dont leave without hearing what you have to say! This rant will probably disappear without much reply and get bumped for the latest "what's your favorite color? And is it HIPPY to like blue?" thread.... but it's OKAY, I for "ONE" say, "THEY" have a right....... it was "popular opinion"!!!!! :)

wow!! I dont have much to say in reply other then right on!!!
and I wont let others speak for me if I have an opinion it will be coming from my mouth, they and them can keep there 2 cents, even though they have money and money definitly talks real loud this world revolves around money I know everyone needs some but the political side of it totally speaks for them
if they spend millions on campaigns just to be heard, spend millions on things that actually matter, hmmm theres an idea.

p.s. yes this year blue is very hippy!!!!! :)

NO SMOKING in bars still gets me cuz your aloud to be drunk and obnoxious but you can't smoke a fat cuban cigar if you choose.

Again I refer to the fact that the land of the free isn't that free.

Sorry i don't have much to say.

Bravo that was a great post.... hopefully it won't get "passed up" for some of the other less important threads. Don't get me wrong ...... I love this site..... but you're absolutely right. People need to think more about where their info/influences come from.
