I'm sorry I know my threads are kind of covering this forum buttttt. . .
I AM SO MAD! I really cant even begin to comprehend what the senators were thinking! Aaah I might go crazy.
Oh, right and just for a synopsis what I'm ranting about before I continue:
The Cantwell Amendment, to strip out Arctic Drilling from the federal budget proposal, failed. Which means that:
"The Interior Department itself has estimated that 12,500 acres in the refuge would be directly affected in a web of roads, drill pads, processing facilities and airports extending over hundreds of square miles, not in a compact area as Norton's letter implies." - Ospirg site.
How can 51 people be so callous and oil hungary to be so quick and willing to destroy so much.
So with that said is there any point in protesting or anything anymore, or is it all to horribly hopeless? :( I was think about heading out to BP with signs and black paint *hehe grins malevolently* or would that just render itself pointless?
Thanks and Peace

I knew when good old bushy boy got re-elected that this was going to happen, its all one big plan they think we know nothing about, take control of foreign oil, get are own oil, oil, oil, oil, money, money, money!!!!!!
money talks in the government and nothing else, just money and more power, we have to be the leaders and how can that happen unless we have all the oil too. yuck!!!!!!

Firstly, it isn't over yet. Head on over to http://www.saveourenvironment.org/ and look at the information for contacting your senators and such. The measure only passed barely and there are still many votes that have to happen before they can actually begin drilling - YOU need to bitch at YOUR SENATOR and ask that they (if not already) vote against drilling in alaska measures, as well as petition their fellow senators to stop it.

Get involved.

... and while you're on the phone with them, mention biomass fuels and point out that hemp is a great source for making biomass fuels so you also stand for cannabis/hemp/marijuana legalization ;)

ah so there is hope yett ~ thank ya delta i lettered and shall call soon
Kermit. . . ahh if we even started drilling in alaska now, you wouldn't see the benfits *price cuts* from it for years, by years i mean up to 40 years. Man this is one of the most beautiful pristine wildlife sanctuarys on the earth and you're willing to throw that away to save a couple of bucks. . . . theres hundreds and thousands of acres and animals that would be put in unmitigated danger
ah too many bad vibes, but just think about it
Thanks to everyone whos doing what they can to keep the pigs out of the refuge!
Peace and Thanks

It's all about profits, baby. Do you really think the oil conglomerates will actually LOWER the prices significantly because we've got our own?

Nope. America has proven they are WILLING to pay $3.00 for a gallon of gas.

That extra oil will mostly just go to pad the pockets of the conglomerates...I'm predicting. They'll lower prices a bit, to be sure...but nowhere NEAR equivalent to how much THEIR prices are lowered.

We will PAY for the process of drilling by inflated fuel prices anyway. They've gotta buy that equipment somehow.

Meanwhile, another pristine wildlife area is raped and pillaged... :bawl:

I just saw Being Caribou, where a couple follow the caribou migrations for a season. The region where these proposed oil fields would go is directly on the calving grounds:www.beingcaribou.com.

Writing letters is crucial. However, personal and community boycott and severe reduction of fossil fuel consumption are equally important. We are responsible for the disruption of a thousand year old seasonal journey every time we pull up to the gas station.

Yeah the politicians are money-crazed and oil-lusting lunatics. By they merely reflect the pathology of the majority of this country, including me and you.

Let's 'fess up to our role in this tragedy.

Peace

all I can say is DRILL DRILL DRILL DRILL DRILL DRILL DRILL DRILL!

for the babies babies!

refuge! the word it self makes me sick!

Nope. America has proven they are WILLING to pay $3.00 for a gallon of gas.

Bullshit!!! We have to pay!!! I have no other choice, I cannot choose another method of transportation because I cannot afford it!! I cannot choose another fule type because there is none. and if there is where The F**k are they?

we are being suppressed just to save a few animals that can walk under the pipes! and still have millions of acres to roam far away from these pipes!

I would have my new house today!! and not have to wait 2 more years BUT because of gas inflation. all my service techs "we pay the gas" so what am I gonna do.. I am going to make sure my life (my movie staring me directed by me) is better and if it means drilling or using Phenol Fule or corn oil I don't care. If it means revoking hunting licences in alaska then so be it! but my kids better be as set up so there kids can be as well!
