I had been having trouble sleeping, so I bought some sleep tea at the organic foods store. Yogi Tea Bedtime to be exact and the stuff does wonders. Just make sure you have plenty of sleep time. I slept through my alarm and my mom trying to wake me up twice one day and hardly even remember it because I was in such a deep sleep.

there are certain amino acids in your body that are vital in sleeping. one of them being glycine... awhile back, i was having trouble sleeping and found out my body wasn't producing enough glycine... my naturopath at the time told me to take glycine... as soon as i started taking it, i slept like a baby.
other supplements that are worth trying... if hippieskier's suggestion for yogi's bedtime tea (mmm... that one's good!!)
kava kava and valerian (both strong herbs when extracted, so be careful)
and also...
Melatonin....It's secreted by the pineal gland, a pea-size structure at the center of the brain, as our eyes register the fall of darkness. At night melatonin is produced to help our bodies regulate our sleep-wake cycles.
all those supplements/herbs are very helpful with helping the natural process of sleep... i hope you find something that works for you!! not being able to fall asleep is a horrible feeling :(

I take 1mg of Melatonin a night..You can buy it at the healthfood store. It's vegetarian and it really gives you a good nights sleep yet you can wake up and feel fine.I also give myself "down time" everyday...That's a time to have quiet and meditate and just shut the world off for awhile..It really helps in the other areas of my life by helping me to stay calm and focused and deal with things better. :)
