R.I.P. Mitch Hedberg

Don't know how many of you have heard this but it is being reported on several radio stations in my area that comedian Mitch Hedberg, 37, has been found dead of a drug overdose. I've seen Mitch on several occasions and even spoken to him a few times...he was my absolute favorite. :bawl: I just want to take this opportunity to say that if you enjoy recreational drugs, be careful, there is no drug on the face of this earth worth dying for. And in the words of Mitch....

"If you're ever in a plane crash, be sure and eat all your peanuts...before some other burnt guy does."

My heart's with you, Icarus. A friend told me about him a couple years ago, so I went out and got Strategic Grill Locations. I instantly knew it was awesome. It sucks what drugs can do to some people :bawl:.

Mitch IS absolutely hilarious! My boyfriend got me listening to him a couple of years ago. I can remember endless nights of lying on his bed listening to the jokes in tears usually. I would always wonder what he looked like in person. And then I finally saw pictures of him, and a standup he did--it just made him even funnier sitting on the edge of the stage not looking at anyone! There is a really good farewell blip for Mitch from his friend, comedian Josh Sneed (JoshSneed.com; click road diary; then Mitch). Mitch was a charismatic dude who knew how to say things and was favored by people like David Letterman and George Carlin (possibly the Greatest!).

Anyway, I feel for him, keep his wife in our thoughts~

Yes yes now I remember they had his stand up on comedy central over the weekend.... He is so funny and dearly missed.... That sucks!

Mitch Hedberg was a great guy. I got turned on to him a few years ago and havnt got tired of him since. I once got a chance to go see him live at goodnight charlies in Raleigh North Carolina. He is so hilarious in person. I read a statement from his mother that said it wasnt the drugs that killed him but a heart defect he has had since birth has anybody else heard this. R.I.P. Mitch

I love that guy! When did he die? My friend will be so sad when I tell him. He was so hilarious and original... damn.

He died about a month or so ago, in a hotel room. The rumor is equal parts drug overdose and congenital heart defect....I'm not really sure as far as actual cause of death goes. If it was an overdose that's yet another brilliant mind wasted...of course, if it was a heart defect the same applies...I'd just prefer it wasn't self-inflicted.
