How is it that children younger than school age manage to be sick and feverish in the middle of the night, and seem just fine during the day...
yet school age kids seem to be sick and feverish durning the day and just fine at night. I'm not talking about faking it either...but true sick.

It's impressive really.

I'm thinking that i'm very upset because I've just been told that my husband, daughter and i are not welcome to stay at my father's house when we visit as his wife does not approve of our attachment parenting. Our daughter (10 months) goes to bed when she's tired and sleeps with us in our family bed. My father's wife doesn't like children in the sitting room after 7pm and thinks she should sleep in a cot on her own in the dark. She also doesn't like me extending breast feeding past 1 year, carrying her in a sling, or the fact that we intend to homeschool. Hannah is a lovely happy, contented little girl, she very bright (started walking this week end) and very sociable. How can anyone (especially her grandfather who claims to love her) not see that this is the best thing for her and us. Sorry to go on, but it's really upset me and i needed to tell someone.
Thanks for reading,
Love September xx

I'm thinking "man, I hope my husband is okay, I can't imagine life without him". I'm thinking that I hate daylight savings time (springing forward anyway) and I'm thinking I better get to bed SOON.

September, don't worry, if it's wasn't your father and his wife disapproving of your choices, it would be someone else. I still breastfeed my son who was 2 in November, and somebody is ALWAYS saying "isn't he a little too old for that?" Oh, and not a day goes by that someone doesn't tell me he needs a haircut. She is your baby, not anyone elses. Do what you want. You know what's best for your own child. ;)

Thanks for that...........people are always so quick to critisize and if they just took the time to look at the children they would see how happy they are.

Whoa, that is terrible. What business is it of hers how you raise your child, especially if it works for you and your kid? It's not like you're hurting her, physically or mentally. Man, that really makes me pissed just to hear that. I hate when people have to impose their opinions on other people, and it especially sucks when it affects your relationship with your dad. It's not like she's just saying "I don't agree." And actually, the average age when most cultures stop breastfeeding is 3, so Americans have just become used to stopping earlier and think that if you breastfeed for longer than a few months, it's disgusting. Now I'm ranting, but just so you know, you have someone in your corner.

But oh well, if they offer it to me for the right price, I'll probably take it. We can't pay all of our bills right now.
