She's back.
My husband calls it "milking the cow" when he's in a diner and he gets coffee with those little, tiny creamers. He'll poke holes in the top of them with his fork and squeaze. Milking the cow.

Nadine calls it "milking the cow". Just everyday stuff that has to be done.
Same cow each day, different teats.
So far....
Made bean soup yesterday.
Making Indian Mulligatawny today.
Got back on my scheduling, complete with calendar.
The woods poofed out last night during the storm. Here comes super privacy.
The wasps have been swarming. That has delayed the coop.
There are violets everywhere. And pink sorrel.
Mr S and U are gone. Mr S came over last night and told us the whole story. Loud music, too many cars. He brought some plastic bowls I'd left there.
Good. I need many bowls.
Evan is back. I won't hear from Nadine for a week or two. They'll be so busy.
Seriously started on the cookbook. With my secret theme firmly in mind, I go forth.
It's going to take several years, but about the time it's ready is about when that cycle should be swinging towards exactly the right market for it.
I cleaned for Nadine again. Last week, I think. Two bedrooms. Kids. The boy was my employee. I got to decide how much Nadine would pay him. He did pretty good for a nine year old. So, I decided on the full amount plus fifty cents.
She paid me thirty dollars plus two bags of straws (1000 straws!), sewing thread, and a loaf of bread.
Six bean soup portions in the freezer. Nicely labeled and dated. It's a tweak on an old recipe. Came out good. Nice flavor.
I saw a giant waffle, with arms and legs, being chased by a giant fork.
Yesterday I stomped one and three quarters bags of cans.
Nadine fixed me and the boy a nice lunch the day we cleaned. I love Nadine. She knows when I need to eat. And she knows that I will forget and become stupid. So she keeps track of it for me.
Changed the silk canopy out for another canopy, which I don't like, so I'll change that again.
The roof is on the coop. One of the nesting shelves is partially done.
We're going to have to fog that area this Friday night so there are no wasps flying around on Saturday.
I made some feather hangings. They run the wasps off, but not very far.
Indian spirituality, my eyeball. Feathers just run off bugs. Nothing spiritual about it.
No wonder the higher the rank, the more feathers you had. What about those poor ones with one feather? Well, they got bug bit a lot. No bugs on the chief, all those feathers.
Cheeseburgers tonight. Have a tomato for them.
Reclaimed sausage grease is wonderful on spinach.
Mmmmmmm!!!!!!!!! FOOD!!!!!! :nature-sm

I dont know if you have this info, I am sure you do I just came across it on the Mother earth news website, so I thought Id share it with you.
Eggs go Gently
I have always assumed that chickens lay their eggs while sitting. One day when I was in the chicken coop, I thought one of my Rhode Island Reds was simply stretching and repositioning herself when she slowly stood up. I was surprised a few seconds later when an egg fell out and hit the bottom of the metal nest box with a sickening thud. After the chicken left, I checked the nest box, and sure enough, the egg was cracked. I hadn’t put enough pine shavings into the box, and by the time the hens had finished rearranging the shavings, the metal floor was showing through. Now I make sure I have enough bedding, 3 to 4 inches, in the nest boxes.

Aww, Pedata! I'd call you the chicken genius! You've been doing so much research I'd bet you dream of the chickens at night.
Sort of like I do with commercial heating controls, LOL
You're going to be a great chicken mama.
