I look around me and all I see is buildings buildings and more buildings. I dont know why but I get so sad at how there arent many forest or wide open rivers just industrial stuff that we dont realy even need. I mean what is the point to kill our world for something we dont need. Why must we be filled with so much greed and no care for the world. I am sorry that is just how I have been feeling latley.

Short answer: We build more buildings, use more resources, pollute and destroy the earth and shun beauty because people for the most part are small minded animals, seeing little of the big picture. Instead they scurry about meaningless lives, consuming everything good they can grub up while filling the world with shit; all to achieve what goal? So they can create more meaningless life, die and rot without contributing a single valuable thing. If we as a species are to evolve and not kill ouselves and our planet, we need to start thinking, stop fucking, clean house and get on with the show.

Yes exactly what I am saying. We are ungreatful. in my opinion we should be destroyed and not let back into existence. if thought a little harsh I dont care for the world should only belong to animals and the forest. At least the animals kill and take for survival not just meaningless pleasure.

i see this too, it is depressing. not only are we destroying it but many people do not even care about it!!! they just want money money money greed greed greed. im sory im complaining too. yesterday i asked one of my friends if she even cared about the trees that keep her alive, she sayd no! she dosnt give about nature. i was like ok, the trees keep you alive ;) .
anyway im glad to see some people conserned about this stuff! that is why i come here. i would like to become a ecologist or environmental scientist soon. that is what i plan on going to college for! :hippie: .
hey zygan, if you dont mind me asking how old are you? i was just wondering because you seem kind of young, and i am young too (16). im sooooo happy to see people caring for nature, it is a rare thought lately.

you go young environmentalist!!! glad to see someone my age on the same page as me. i hope you keep your sence of wonder, dont let it ever slip away. i am angered at the fact that less and less people of our day and age are caring about the environment. the only thing closest to our world in its purity. it is what keeps us alive. i would like to see my friend who 'dosent care about nature' go and live where there are no trees. not to be mean.
i hope and pray everyday that people will once again see the beauty of nature. and i am so happy to have found this place. everyone here is so careing and i see a happyness thoroughout.
thanks to all of us hippies and environmentalist who care about nature!!!!! :hippie: :hippie: :hippie:

Did you know that in the Bible, GOD put man in the garden as a caretaker or steward. To tend the garden, eat from it and fellowship in it. So these neo-con right wing corperate lacky facists who not only believe that they have the right to destroy our planet but also feel they have cornered the market on GOD (GW BUSH) actually know they are doing wrong. That is why they are so harshly opposed to enviromentalists. I'm sure you've noticed that when someone is in opposition to their destructive opinions they are labeled as tree-huggers, hippies, commies, fags, dirty, smelly and stupid. (ala Rush Limbaugh) Any kind of personal attack so as not to discuss the point! They know they are wrong and they supposedly know GOD. They are in serious rebelion of GOD's word and we remind them of that. I am not a hippy... just a brother in stewardship of the mother.

I agree with the frog. I love technology and industrialism, I think they are beautiful signs of human advancement. I'm a city person and I love the tall building and towering bridges. But there are a million ways we could cut back the crap we don't need if we were less focused on our animalistic desires.

Well I do admit some technology is good. I just dong agree on some of the stupid things we build. There are just some things we dont need. I mean I love how nature is and I think it could be all the more better if we just didn't build so many things that we don't need.

A few things I think we don't need-
Paper towels. Cloth ones work and last a long time.
Excess packaging on products (waste of paper and ink).
Manmade fabrics- they cause pollution. Natural fabrics are kinder to the skin and environment.
And now my brain is tired....
What else, y'all?

Imported food that has to get shipped a long way. Such a waste of natural resources and such a source of greenhouse gases.
Buy local!

we dont need to use so much gas, alternate fuel, and walking and biking to places nearby :p
we also dont need to put so many artificial chemicals and fillers into food
we dont need suburban sprawl...
there is a balance to everything, a balance to how much city and a balance to how much country and natural land left. there is not much natural uninhabited land left or rainforest. we should be urged to not take over too much more beautifull natural land. yes the cities are beautifull too and they are human advancement, but so is nature is is earth at its purest ;)

What Else
One thing that we definitely don't need is Disposable Diapers!
My mom used cloth diapers with my sister, and... they're less expensive, they don't cause rashes as much, or badly, they're easier to deal with (you just hold the clean end, flush the nasty down the toilet, and put it in a bag till you get home!), and don't become just another thing in a land fill. I'm not sure how hard it is to find the plastic covers that you need so that... the fabric doesn't let your baby drip nastiness everywhere, but that's what I saw my mom use with my sister, and... I think it worked very well for her.
I know someone else who's using that.
Plus, when the baby doesn't need diapers anymore, the cloth ex-diapers make great cleaning rags!

You are soooo right.
I had this girl attacking vegetarians in general, because some girl gave her a pamphlet on how nasty we treat animals in the US... and I couldnt' stand it. But no matter what I said, she'd just be like "that's a bunch of BS, kiddo"... so.. I just let her keep her opinion, and said something about how... you always attack people that make you feel guilty or stupid, and she got really pissed. LOL. I don't usually get up in people's faces about being vegetarian, because I know that if all the sudden a million people became vegetarian it'd screw up the economy pretty bad.... Plus, people generally have their minds made up.. it's like that saying -- "Don't confuse me with the facts: my mind's made up!" Ya know?
I really do feel like as a person we have a responsibility to take care of a] other people (If 10% of America were vegetarian then there would be enough grain free to feed ... the rest of the world) b] the animals (face it, we don't take very good care of them!) and c] the earth in general! It's not our right to screw up something that our kids are going to have to live with!
I hate being called a hippie. I'm not really... I mean, I'm vegetarian, and wear sandals alot, and tyedye, and have long hair and stuff... but... I'm not just about saving the animals. Or the Whales. Or the environment. I really do feel like it is our duty to be "good stewards of the earth".
"To whom much is given, much is required", and what is better than Earth? What better gift could we have been given?
In my opinion, people who don't care that other people are starving, or that there are inhumanely treated animals, or that... the earth is getting pretty crummy... Really don't deserve to be wasting precious resources! That's a person who really isn't good. Good people are compassionate and not so selfish!

you guys read my mind, why cant we just live simply like GOD originally gave us the opportunity to i mean i would be happy if i didnt have to deal with traffic and pollution and everything negative that comes out of our big cities if i could just sit under a tree and be surrounded by the beauty of nature. :hippie:

I agree people are getting way out of hand with meaningless shit. THat is one of the many reasons i want to move to asheville. Lots of protected forest there. On one side is Piscah and on the other side is Nantehalia. Both are very beautiful plus there is always th appalachian trail.

I was using natural cleaning products in the late eighties before people really could buy them easily. Baking soda for the tub and toilet and lemon juice extract. I don't buy papertowels or napkins. I use a bandana for wiping my mouth and hands while eating. I wish I could go back to vegetarian. I am Native American and feel that hunted meat if hunted respectfully and with prayer is a healthy part of diet. But meat at the store. I am seriously thinking of quitting that again. I rarely eat it but once a month when I am in need of Iron. But I stick with herbal tinctures and grind my veggies in a juicer etc. I should quit meat. Thers none in my freezer. I really should I know better.
I pick up cigarette butts on the ground everday on the way to my apartment dumpster and people think I am crazy in my apartment complex. I pick up trash anywhere I go including the woods across the street my neighbors see me out there and think I am nuts. One guy called the cops on me because I could be seen across the street picking up trash. He didn't know that I was leaving raw turkey flesh for the wolves that hang around. I make feather headress' for some of the men in our tribe. I feed the birds with excess bread. I am thinking of taking the Appalachian trail in a few weeks.
