I'm interested in this as a concept for several reasons, but I can't seem to find any serious infomation on the subject. Everything on the internet seems to be directly tied to one of three interests: Anti-feminism, alien abduction and impregnation of human females, and Tolkien-esque science fiction. Can anyone reccomend web links or printed material that has actual information on controlled human breeding? I realize many people find the subject offensive and I'm not interested in discussing or arguing it at this point, because I'm not in the least bit informed, thus my quest for information. Anybody?

I'm not certain what a human breeding program is. It sounds like artificial insemination or people who are involved with fertility research, but from the tone of your post I suspect i'm way off.
Can you define it for me?

You mean like creating a master race? I think Hitler already tried that, lol.
You could try googling "hitler master race plans".

I'm talking about controlled human breeding, basically using organic reproduction to engineer better (or different) human beings, much in the same way dogs, horses and other animals have been bred into various high quality breeds featuring specific strengths and abilities. As far as I know this kind of thing has not been attempted much, if at all, aside from Hitler's games, but I'm sure there must be books and articals written on the subject. I'm very surprised that at this point in human evolution we still have not explored the options it presents, especially in light of the successes we've had with other animals. Anyway, hope that clears up what I'm looking for. I need to go check the libraries myself, but I thought possibly one of the free thinking minds here had done my homework for me. :)

Pedata is right about Hitler.
But I see exactly what you mean. Infact I'vve been running that theory for years. I was very picky of who I dated, not just for the fact that an accident could happen, but if it was someone I wanted to be with for the rest of my life. When I met my wife, we talked about IQ's, I have a 168 and my wife is 165 (though honestly I think she is far smarter), but anyways I have gathered that smart people "breed" ...well, smart people. I mean it's not just parenting that makes a kid what he/she is or will become.
We don't plan on having children, but if we do, I'll know that there will be a good chance of our offspring having a high IQ.
Now not having a high IQ doesn't mean you can't make yourself successful in life. But (for instance) running the country you need a high IQ. I mean look at the past presidents, they seem to prove that you can be successful with out a high IQ. But IQ is nothing, athletes (such as what hitler forced), artists (such as myself), writers , etc.
I had this spin-off theory that if they colinised Mars or the Moon, they would probably send the smart people there to breed the new martians or Moon-people.
Sorry about the IQ thing, I hate mentioning it b/c I feel like an ass when I talk about it.

Though I think you are referencing controlled studies rather than natural human tendency, I remember learning in a relationships class in college that people are drawn to others who have strengths that complete their own weaknesses. There is even a significant bit of research on attraction which shows humans are attracted to others who are genetically strong where they are weak. All of this is, of course, to procreate a stronger person. Or, a perfect person, even.
I believe it was Ayn Rand who said that you know a persons insecurities by noting who they chose to sleep with (paraphrased).
As for actual studies, i'd also be interested to hear what exists.

Here's a big list of reference on eugenics, which is closely related to if not the basis of what we're talking about.

And an artical of interest.

i like ure ideas guys, dont know if any of have awatched a sci-fi series called darkangel in it there is geneticly modified super soldiers as well as a cult of generational hybrided humans. personally i think the idea is great i also would like to research cross race hybriding, i'm a hybrid of irish and goan. i dunno about this i.q thing coz my dad has a high one i'm guessing and my mum lower. I was tested and they couldn't give me one (there are 2 catorgorie comunicable and raw,- i got 115 on comunicable and my raw was capped at 146 which is just before geting into menza, ure real iq is an average of these 2. anyways i think i have got a lot of advantages from both races and also from the 2 diffrent brains in my parents. i dont think anyone will have done any human breeding programs because humans cant be seperate enough from the human race culture thing. Also because of the ideas of good or bad they would try to get one perfect human rather than working on diffrent types like we already have but maybe stablising them.
i mean its alll good being 6ft tall and 200 pounds of muscle coz if u have to squese through a small gap or walk along something that can support low weight ure gonna be buggered, where as a dwarfed human would be much better off. anyways theres my rant.

from what i understand during the antebellum period slaves were sometimes bred by their masters to create stronger workers.
but i havent heard of this happening recently but i think that it is a good idea but some people would probably have something to say about that
