Oh well, it never hurts to let a garden go fallow for a year. Mine's not getting any rest, tho. Beans in the big pots and watermelons in the ground.

Im thinkin I may fill it up with pumpkins, butternut and other squashes.. they take up lots of room and will keep the weeds down.

Good plan, Libra, I may do that too. I'm just not up to keeping up a garden this year. I'm torn, though, because food prices are going out the roof here. It's actually a lot cheaper to eat frozen pizzas and the cheap microwave "dinners" than good, wholesome food.

I still eat meat, and I suspect that it's causing me problems - not that it's meat, but every time I eat the store-packaged meat I seem to end up with two days of the "runs". Sometimes the veggies do that too - but, if I eat some crappy pressure-canned vegetables or other foods processed under heat, I have no problems. I've watched it long enough that I think it's mostly the fault of our only local supermarket's hygiene standards, since they've mostly switched over to their own "store brands" and name brands can be hard to find there. You'll probably retch hearing me say it, but a Walmart is under construction right now and expected to be completed by fall, and I'm greatly looking forward to it.

Anyway, this year I've been a wimp and not raised seedlings, so I'll probably just put a row of tomatoes and peppers along the fence and forget the rest for now. Surely next year we'll both feel better. Looks like we're going to catch at least the tail of some awful weather by mid-week, so I'm not in a hurry.

A few years back, I took over a median strip (between the sidewalk & road) outside of the complex of bungalows where I live. The garden is a series of raised containers.

In the past, neighbors took beds over w/o even being asked. Then rent went up, and everyone left. I stayed, because even w/the increase, I save a lot of money by not having to drive to work. New tenants moved in, but their vibe was very different. Now, even w/invitations, no one gardens with me. I still love the garden, but miss my community.

We are in the process of buying land & we were going to do a Organic garden but recently we found out it has a gas lease. Now we are looking for another place & it sucks to we have to be out of here by mid. August. We started this in April, for some reason, slow real. agent it is taking forever was the first bottle neck, now it the the lawyer. It sucks cause there are a lot of gas leases in NY state. What they do is horrible, I wonder why hydrofraking isn't banned. Anyone here know of a ban hydrofraking site?

Default My indoor work bin is kind of fun!

Even on days when my ability to walk is minimal, I can contribute to my garden!

Does anyone else do anything indoors to add to their garden outside?
