major benefit for The Dome School in Takilma.
*HONOR THE EARTH: *The Hope Mountain Barter Faire is a family camp out
and festival. Respectful, caring, and conscious behavior make the Faire
a safe and healthy environment for children of all ages. The Barter
Faire promotes commerce and lifestyles which are friendly to the Earth
and her ecosystems which sustain us.
*
WHAT IS BARTERING? *Barter builds community! Bartering is trading things
of value between individuals. You can trade your time and skills,
(childcare, gardening, plumbing, designing rain water catchments, etc.),
craft work, (baskets, beadwork, art, etc.), garden or wild produce, and
useful items (seeds, books, toys, wood stoves, tools, etc.). Use your
imagination - the possibilities are endless.
Bartering promotes human interaction and interdependence, relying more
on each other for our needs than cash only transactions, which ARE
acceptable by the way. Our intent is not to restrict transactions of any
sort, rather, to facilitate ALL sorts of them.

*ABOUT THE DOME SCHOOL*:
The Dome School is a parents cooperative that began in a dome of the
unincorporated town of Takilma, Oregon in the early 1970's. Through
hands-on learning, we are finding ways to actively engage ourselves and
our children in shaping our culture and economy. Today The Dome School
operates in the *Takilma Community Building <http://www.takilma.org>*
and offers preschool, kindergarten and elementary programs. In order to
keep the tuition affordable, we depend a lot on fundraising and
volunteering. The producers of this event are a non profit organization
created solely for supporting our kids~
