Gaston, do you lay cardboard down first, or newspaper, or just lots of leaves? I stopped by a landscapers and asked what they do with all the leaves they clean up for people, and he dumps em in the woods nears his house and would be more then happy to deliver a truck load to my house for me!! Sweeeet deal ah!!
So im expanding my garden, I want a pumpkin patch and squash patch.

I've got kneesles. It's like measles, but in the knees. My knees are all red and hurt like shit from crawling around in the garden putting down newspaper and covering it up with leaves and yard clippings. Hopefully I'm done for the year and the symptoms will pass on their own without medication, although I have my eye on some Hobgoblin ale as a palliative. I understand that the hops does wonders for pain.
Luckily I was wearing good boots, so I didn't get toe-lio. And, my boxer shorts didn't ride up, so I didn't get smallcocks. Get your vaccines, folks, it's a sick world we live in. ![]() |

LOL! I've missed you guys! I've been too long without a good random laugh.
Well all the moving is done now (at least the out part, still a ways to go on the in part ) so hopefully I'll be able to stop in more often. Though now I have an overwelming amount of garden space to get ready for spring. I hope everyone has been happy and thriving while I was gone. Libra, did you decide on a name for your teas?

Where is everyone? I suppose most have been busy with the holidays and all. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone's travels were safe and that the holiday was low on drama.

Well, being as its not a holiday for me, I'm just hanging around the house. The CV joints in my van went kerflooey and my tenants 4Runner is up on blocks getting a clutch.
It's pretty quiet around here too. When the vehicles are fixed we have to put the garden to bed and get some other yard work done before the snow flies. It can't snow before Dec. 20th! On the 19th I have to take my donkey to a Christmas pageant and the van has to be fixed by then too.We aren't doing a big Christmas, just a big meal and a quiet day at home. Take Care Lois

Well, the leaves and my knees gave out at about the same time; isn't it wonderful how Nature works to achieve balance in the Universe?
![]() I got half the garden space covered instead of 2/3 but I'll finish the rest in the spring ... the grass groweth long afore the tomatoes doth dare. I have a cure of sorts for the kneesles. I bought a pair of McDavid Hexpads to wear under my SCA armour, then changed my armour for some hidden stuff that is already padded. Since these are spares now, I put a pair on under my jeans, and they work great in the garden! They're only about 1/4" thick due to the technology, but they cushion better than 1/2" of the regular high density foam. My "carpenter's knees" were constantly falling down or getting mulch and garden trash under them, the Hexpads stay up as long as you pull them up enough that the lower band is above your calf muscle, and sticks and such can't get under them as they're under your pants, not over them. They also keep the damp away from your knee joints, but of course your pants still get nasty. I figure it's a good trade. Here's a link to the manufacturer: http://www.mcdavidusa.com/store/item...ARTMENT_ID=709 Pick a model you like, then search online for a better price. No more kneesles! ![]() |

The other day in town I saw a block lined with grandmas and grandpas holding up "tea party" signs. Other signs were saying something about tort reform, Obama and government health care. Probably an organization like American legion perhaps, alot of grandpas were wearing veteran hats. At the end of the row of protesters was a dishuffled man with his belongings at his feet. He kept lifting his shirt flashing his man boobs. His sign read "bums gone wild". GOD I LOVE AMERICA!
