Default ok, here's a mayonnaise I made today.

Quick and easy, zesty, good for sandwiches or maybe a dip for, oh, say meatballs.

One large egg
One tsp. mustard
One tsp. salt
1/2 tsp white pepper
~1/4 tsp garlic powder
~1/2 tsp sweet basil
1-1/2 tsp. white wine vinegar
One tblsp. lemon juice
One cup corn/cannola oil blend

Put everything except the oil in a bowl and blend well with a hand mixer or whisk. Slowly drizzle in the oil; beat until it's as thick as you like. You can also do the same thing in a blender.

I dont know why toman, but that first sentence was funny. I have never heard of people putting mayonnaise on their meatballs! But I do need to try that recipe (after I run out of my hellmans, and now they make it with canola so it is "healthier").

hahah, it probably does seem odd, if you're only familiar with that storebought stuff they call mayonnaise. The homemade kind is almost a different condiment entirely, and you can make a lot of different versions of it that morph into dips, salad dressings, tartar sauce, things like that...

Hey, Toman, thank you for the recipe! I have NEVER had homemade mayonaisse; so I'm sure I'm in for a treat. I am going to try this, this weekend.

So is the mustard, regular prepared, like yellow or brown mustard out of a jar? Or is it powdered mustard (the spice)?

There's so many mayo recipes floating around the 'net that it's nice to be able to try one that somebody I consider to be a friend, has made.

Thanx again.

Kath

I used some plain organic yellow mustard in a squeeze bottle. There are a ton of recipies out there, and a lot are better than this one. This isn't the best I've made; I was posting it more as an example than a real suggestion, but it's worth making just for a try. Might want to back off on the vinegar and mustard a bit, as it is it's a bit strongly flavored. Good luck!
