Question Any Raw fooders out there?

I've been feeling drawn to a raw food diet for a while now, anyone have knowledge or experiance they'd like to share?
One of my biggest hold ups is I'm a single mama, and really not into putting my 4 year old onto a raw diet, OR fixing two seprate meals several times a day...any thoughts?

The only thing I know is that you won't get the nutrients out of potatoes and spinach if they're not cooked.

Peace,

Hmm...
I think I'm heading toward a seasonal diet, and raw just makes sense for the coming spring and summer. Now when fall and winter roll around I'll be all into big steaming plate of patato spinach samosas ...ooooooooo with plum chutney...

When I first heard about raw food diet I thought it was crazy untill I did a bit more research. I have this book my friend gave me called "Dining in the Raw" by Rita Romano. Its full of great information and tons of recipes. I don't adhere to a strictly raw diet but after learning more about it I have made some major changes in the way I cook (or now don't cook ) certain foods. If you browse through the vegetarian cookbook section of Barnes and Nobles or your libary you should be able to find some good books. We changed many of our eating habits to help my husband with his Type 1 diabetes. It was a shock at first but after awhile everyone in my family just feels healthier eating this way, even my daughter who upon occasion used to sneak off to my moms house to beg for a bit of meat now has no trouble eating the foods I prepare. I don't think you neccasarily have to go raw all the way or even in your mind think of it as a big deal, just think of it as making some changes to your eating habits. In my opnion any little bit you change helps your overall health .

Thanks for the cook book tip Mountain_mama, I'll look for it.

I've been a Veggie (currrently lacto-ovo, former vegan) for years now, and my son has been raise a veggie from the day he was born (plain raw tofu is one of his favorite foods) so I don't think he would have any problems with the changes I'm looking to make, I'm just not certain that raw(or mostly raw..I'm thinking 70-80% in the spring and summer) is the best choice for a small child, especially my little bean pole boy. I'd love to find info on raw diets for children...but it just seem near imppossible to find any honest, balanced info on raw diets. People either rave about them or trash them...
