HSN is Peddling Fox Fur Coats
Unbelievably,
HSN (Home Shopping Network) is not only peddling fox fur coats
on their shopping channel, but they
have the gall to proclaim that 'fur is the hottest thing for fall',
and the latest look on the fashion runways. It's great to know
that death is so stylish!
Up
on the murder block, HSN touted designer Sharif's fox fur coats
(pictured on the left and
may be seen here). These jackets are
ugly, unstylish and dripping in death. Shame on HSN for promoting
the
fur industry.
In a day and age, where faux fur is easy to use and promote,
why is HSN reverting back to the barbaric use of real fur?
If
you think this practice is unnecessary, wasteful, and murderous,
please
voice your concerns by contacting HSN directly to let them know.
Or, call to complain at 1- 800-284-3900.
Leading fashion retailers like J.Crew, Jones Apparel,
Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Ann Taylor have all made
the compassionate decision to go fur-free. Please help keep the
pressure on organizations like HSN to go "fur-free."
Fur
clothing is an archaic practice, that is not attractive, nor
necessary. Additionally, there are environmental concerns that
are also related to the trade. Many fur garments are heavily
dyed
with
chemicals
to alter their color. Fur farms or fur ranches also produce animal
wastes and leftover carcasses that may become odorous or diseased.
Escaped animals from fur farms could also affect the surrounding
habitat and the gene pool of the wild population.
