ABC News ‘Earth 2100’, set to broadcast this September, makes Al Gore’s ‘Inconvenient Truth’ look like an episode of Barney and Friends. The show isn’t even finalized yet, as it’s a work in progress. Combining videos submitted from us wee-folk, and with real projections of top scientists, historians, and economists, ABC is creating a powerful web–based narrative about the perils of our future.

Their promotional website has an intriquing trailer that puts any horror film to shame. It also says:

In an unprecedented television and internet event, ABC News is asking you to help answer perhaps the most important question of our time — What will our world be like over the next one hundred years if we don’t act now to save our troubled planet?

The world’s brightest minds agree that the “perfect storm” of population growth, resource depletion and climate change could converge with catastrophic results.

The show does have a slick, Hollywood-created urgency to it, but the message is clear and it appears to be hopeful. It is designed to be a wake-up call broadcasted across the world, pleading with nations and it’s people to make real changes before it’s too late.
