Plastic bag Ban proposed in WA
Plastic shopping bags will be banned if a WA Opposition move is successful.
The State Opposition wants Western Australia to become the third state in the country to ban the use of plastic shopping bags.
South Australia and Victoria have already banned them.
The opposition’s spokeswoman for the Environment Sally Talbot will introduce a Private Members Bill when Parliament resumes next month to ban the use of plastic bags in WA.
She says only 3 per cent of the 400 million bags used in WA each year are recycled.
Reusable bags are now widely available in most parts of the world. To find something specific, please visit our Reusable Bags directory.
